WEEDSPORT, NY -May 11, 2017 – Weedsport Speedway officials announced on Wednesday that Beyea Custom Headers will be the new title sponsor of the Sportsman Shootout Series which will open on Sunday, May 21 as a part of the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Empire State Challenge.

Weedsport’s Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series will cover eight races at The Port with a minimum of $1,000 going to the winner of each series tilt.

An overall series champion will once again be presented with a hefty $2,000 prize following the final series event during the Super DIRT Week Kickoff Party at Weedsport on Wednesday, October 4.  The top ten drivers in the standings will receive a point payout.

Included within the Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series will once again be the $2,500 to win Sportsman Classic presented by Industrial Tire of CNY on Monday, July 3.  This marquee event draws Sportsman competitors from around the state for the right to be called a Classic champion.

All eight events on the Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series schedule will be DIRTcar sanctioned providing bonus opportunities for DIRTcar home track points.  As a result, a DIRTcar license will be required at all events in order to compete.

“We are very excited to have Beyea Custom Headers on board for 2017,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps.  “Not only are they the industry leader for custom exhaust, they have always gone above and beyond to help the racers.  This partnership truly shows their commitment to the Sportsman division.”

With an action packed series in store from May through October, Weedsport Speedway is also fully committed to Sportsman teams and drivers.

“We love everything about Sportsman racing,” said Phelps.  “The competition and drivers are phenomenal and they put on great action here at Weedsport.  Central New York is fortunate to have a solid following of competitors in our area and we are proud to do our part in providing an exciting and safe facility for our Sportsman as well as opportunities to run for series type purses.”

Defending Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series champion Rocky Warner is ready to defend his title and says that Weedsport provides non-stop action from the drop of the green flag.

“Weedsport has always been a unique place,” said Warner.  “The shape of it and wall placement keeps you up on the wheel the whole race.  Sometimes I’m not sure we take a breath there unless there is a yellow or the checkers fly.”

Warner says that Weedsport and the Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series serves as a sort of all-star atmosphere for Sportsman racers.

“The competition in the Sportsman division is incredible everywhere you run, but especially when everyone converges on Weedsport,” said Warner.  “Most everyone in the division has the same motor which means the only advantage you can have is in setup and driver ability.  With guys like Marcuccilli, RD3 (Ronnie Davis III), and others; you have to be busy in the race shop and on the wheel to get wins.”

As an added bonus for this season Beyea Custom Headers will also present a Hard Charger Award.  The driver advancing the most positions in a Beyea Custom Headers Sportsman Shootout Series main event will earn a $100 product certificate from Beyea.

With more than 15 years in the header fabrication business, Beyea Custom Headers knows how to customize a racers power curve to create a broader range of power.

Each header or exhaust set up has been tried and tested. Used by many of the top Modified and Late Model race teams and engine builders across the U.S.
