Open Cockpit Cars and Drivers Highlight Flemington Speedway Historical Society Display at Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show

Phillipsburg, NJ – March 1, 2017- Flemington Speedway Historical Society (FSHS) will once again provide an anchor display at Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Car Show. For the tenth consecutive year, Phillipsburg Mall, Route 22 East, Phillipsburg, NJ is the venue for the week long extravaganza. It opens Sunday, March 5 and closes Saturday, March 11.

More than 18 race cars will be part of the FSHS exhibit, which highlights open cockpit sprint cars and midgets.  Among the sprint cars will be the Weikert/Doug Wolfgang #29, Smokey Snellbaker #56, Billy Pauch #1, Dave Kelly #17, the White Phantom #63, and others.  The midget display will include the Paul Kuhl #8, the Ken Brenn #35 and several TQ midgets, just to name a few.  In addition, the Richie Evans #61, the Paul Deasey #707, the Dick Havens #93, and the Ken Brenn #24 stock cars will be on display, and many more.

The FSHS exhibit will feature vintage racing movies, along with the tables and walls filled with photos, scrapbooks, and other memorabilia. Flemington Speedway personalities will be visiting the FSHS display all week.

Friday. March 10th, two “Legends of Racing” shows will be presented 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm, honoring former Flemington competitor and Grand Marshall Sammy Beavers, and featuring many dirt modified stars who competed at Flemington and other dirt tracks.

Saturday, March 11th, a “Special Tribute to Open Wheel Racing Legends” from Flemington Speedway will start at 1:00 pm.  Drivers attending include Bob Cicconi, Lou Cicconi, Ronnie Dunstan, Drew Fornoro, Bing Metz, Garry Gollub, and Stan Lobitz, just to name a few.  This is sure to be a lively reminiscing session.
