If you were to look up the Point Standings from New Egypt Speedway this past season you would find that Danny Bouc finished 10th in the season long standings. But what you wouldn’t find is how his season fell into place. After taking the 2013 season off due to funding and securing a ride for the 2014 season just a few short weeks before the season was scheduled to start he found himself on the outside looking in again after him and his car owner parted ways, Danny was able to put something together at the eleventh hour to drive his family owned 32 weekly at NES.

Danny who started his career out (and still does Indoors during the winter) racing go-karts moved into the Modified scene in 2007 racing a Sportsman car at NES. He is one of those guys who is truly a racer at heart. I recently had a chance to sit down and do a quick ten question’s with Danny.

PM: If someone gave you an unlimited budget to build a race track, what would it be?
DB: A high banked 1/4 mile bullring, with a big cushion, like Tulare out in California where they run that Trophy Cup race.

PM: Where do you want your career to go?
DB: I don’t know, as far as it will take me. I’m happy running Modifieds right now. Trying some sort of sprint car would be cool also.

PM: In your career, what would be the best experience you’ve ever had due to racing?
DB: Probably my Rookie Sportsman Championship at New Egypt Speedway back in 2007.

PM: What type of surface do you prefer? Dry/Slick or Tacky/Heavy?
DB: It all depends on what I’m driving. If I’m in the small block then dry/slick. But if I’m driving a big block I want a big heavy cushion to lean against.

PM: If you could win one race you haven’t won yet, what would it be?
DB: The Atlantic City Indoor Race or The Freedom 76er at Grandview. It’s the highest paying race around here for what you spend to race in it.

PM: What do you do away from the race track besides race?
DB: Work just to pay to go racing.

PM: If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
DB: Tim Richmond. That dude was such a badass. It would be the craziest party you ever went to afterwards.

PM: If you could race any race car in history, what would it be?
DB: That oddball three wheeled super modified that Tim Richmond practiced once at Sandusky (OH) that Kenny Reece built.

PM: $10,000 to win, your running 2nd, do you crash the guy to win?
DB: It depends on who it is. If they’ve wrecked me before or not. If they drive me clean, I’ll drive them clean. But if they’ve ran me dirty, then I’m going to do what I have to do to win the race.

PM: Last Question, if you could change anything about the sport of short track racing what would you change about it?
DB: The costs. Make it cheaper because that’s what’s ruining everything. I wish everything would be uniform no matter where you went. Everyone had the same rules whether its tires, bodies, motors for everything so you could bounce around and do more.

I have been watching race car drivers my entire life and have never seen a kid who races with everything he has more than Danny Bouc. If he ever was able to catch a break he would be a force to be reckoned with in the Dirt Modified field no matter where he races.
