Jamie Mills Survives Fiery Bridgeport Speedway Wreck on Wednesday Night

Story By: Pete MacDonald

DSC_0655Bridgeport NJ.- May 26, 2016- Milford, DE driver Jamie Mills took one of the scariest rides I have ever seen in person last night at the Bridgeport Speedway.

As Mills entered turns 1-2 during heat race action last night in his No.30 Bicknell machine it appeared that a throttle stuck or Jamie had no brakes as his vehicle slammed the outside retaining wheel. After a very heavy right-front impact hot oil sprayed onto the headers igniting the car into a very large fireball as the car rolled over.

Quite the scary sight indeed as emergency vehicles rushed to the scene to find Mills exiting his destroyed Modified.

Mills would be taken to a Milford, DE hospital later on that evening for observation.

“An Update for everyone Jamie is in Milford hospital with 5 broken ribs, they kept him overnight for observation. Thanks for all the prayers and keep them coming this was a very scary ordeal for sure. Thanks to Bicknell Race Cars for building a safe race car. God Bless”, said family member Glenn Watson in a Facebook post this morning.

Many observers gathered around the car after it was brought back to the pit area which appeared to be a total write off at the time.

It was unclear whether Jamie would be in attendance for tonight’s Short Track Super Series South race at the Delaware International Speedway. Mills was going into the event in 16th place in series point standings.

Us at RacersGuide.com are wishing Jamie a speedy recovery and hope to see him back at a race track in the near future.

UPDATE: Jamie has been released from the hospital and is home and resting.
