Short Track Super Series Fueled By Hi-Tek Off To Strong 2015 Start; Top-10 Earnings Reports For Orange County Fair Speedway & Bridgeport Speedway North & South Region Openers; Drivers Cash In With STSS!
BOYERTOWN, PA – The Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Hi-Tek launched its 2015 season with successful spring programs at Orange County (N.Y.) Fair Speedway April 11 and Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway April 19.
As has become the norm at STSS events, massive payouts were distributed to the big-block/small-block Modified competitors in attendance. Orange County’s ‘Hard Clay Open’ opened the Bob Hilbert Sportswear North Region $15,000 championship battle, while Bridgeport hosted the Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. South Region presented by Scotty’s Speed & Diesel ‘South Jersey Shootout’ lid-lifter. The STSS South Region champion earns $7,500.
Both events attracted large and diverse fields, with 52 Modifieds signing in at OCFS and 42 at Bridgeport. Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y., was the North Region winner at OCFS while Hellertown, Pa., driver Rick Laubach took the inaugural South Region checkered at Bridgeport.

The series continues at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa., Tuesday, May 5 (rain date: May 6) with the ‘Anthracite Assault’ event, offering both North & South Region points in a 50-lap event paying $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag. Also on the program are Sportsman (Open vs. Crate 602) paying $1,000 to win and $100 to start plus Doug Borger’s traveling XCel 600 Modifieds in a 20-lap, $1,000-to-win showdown.
BD Motorsports Media LLC takes on a co-promotional role for the Tuesday night special. It is the second time the ‘Anthracite Assault’ has been run; the first took place on July 26, 2011.
Gates, both in the grandstand and pit areas, will open at 4 p.m. in the grandstand and pit areas. The drivers’ meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 7 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission is $25. Kids under 12 and active military with ID are admitted free. Pit admission is $35, with no license required.
