Spring Spruce Up Day Set for April 29; Kartway Pit Selection, Practice Also Planned

OSWEGO, NY – April 6, 2017 – As the countdown continues toward Oswego Speedway’s 67th consecutive season of green flag racing, fans have the opportunity to assist in getting the ‘Steel Palace’ ready for action on Saturday, April 29 with the 14th annual Pizza Villa Spring Spruce-Up Day.

The annual Spruce-Up Day at the Speedway will again begin promptly at 10 a.m.

Among the tasks on hand at the Speedway will be re-painting heat race victory lane, touching up the start/finish line stripe on the main straightaway, as well as cleaning up the walkway leading to the Speedway’s main entrance.

Those in attendance are encouraged to bring push brooms, small hand tools, and pickup trucks if available.
Any and all fans and community members are welcome to help kick-off the beginning of the 67th season of Speedway racing and enjoy a great lunch provided by the folks at Pizza Villa of Oswego.

Gates will open at the Kartway at 9 a.m. on April 29 for racers to secure pit spots for the 2017 season.

Returning members from last year have the right to retain their spot from a year ago, with new members making selections following.

The pit area will then be cleared at 10 a.m. with the Kartway’s first flea market/swap meet taking place. Racers are encouraged to bring anything they want to sell, as severl new families are involved in the sport and looking for items.

Around 11 a.m. the track will hold a Novice/Rookie drivers meeting and then around 11:30 a.m. a Novice/Rookie practice session will be held for approximately an hour before all karts are able to hit the track for testing.

Pit passes will be $10 for spectators and $15 for anyone practicing.

The practice session will only be held if the track and grounds are in good condition. The weather will be monitored closely between now and then.

On track activity beings at Oswego Speedway on Saturday, May 6 with the annual open test session for all racing divisions. Testing will run from 1-5pm on May 6 and is free for spectators to sit in the main grandstand.

Following the Speedway’s open practice the facility will open for its 67th consecutive season of racing on Saturday, May 13 with the Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Richie Evans Memorial all on the card.
