Mahoning Valley Speedway September 12 program rained out
(LEHIGHTON, Pa. 9-12-15) Mahoning Valley Speedway has cancelled their racing program for today, Saturday, September 12, due to a forecast of rain and thunderstorms for the Lehighton area starting at noon and lasting throughout the evening.
This puts a halt to nine consecutive weeks of racing and the fourth time this season that it was a complete washout.
Looking ahead to next Saturday, September 19, it will be a regular show of Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks along with the rain-postponed Dirt Mod feature from July 18 will be run.
Also, popular ARCA Racing Series driver Bobby Gerhart Jr., will be at Mahoning Valley to meet fans and sign autographs. The 8-time Daytona 200 winner will have his No. 5 Lucas Oil Chevrolet on display and he will also run laps during intermission with his ARCA short track car.
On September 26 there will be a regular six-division show plus a Small Car Enduro.
The final day of points for all classes is on Saturday, October 3, which is highlighted by the Bob “Heavy” Scherer Memorial 100 for Modifieds that pays $3500 to win and is also the fifth race of the Central States Modified Gamblers Series. Rain date for this event is Sunday, October 4.
Octoberfast 2015 will be held on Saturday, October 17. The final program of the season will be October 24. Information on those two events will be announced soon.
A reminder to all that the 2015 Awards Banquet will be on Saturday, November 21 at the Northampton Community Center in Northampton.
