NORTHEAST SMALL CAR CLASSIC SUNDAY JULY 20th AT PENN CAN SPEEDWAY

Susquehanna, PA… Penn Can Speedway has been busy putting together another exciting event for the small cars at the Susquehanna County oval. The fifth annual Northeast Small Car Classic will be presented this Sunday July 20st as part of the big two day Northeast Twin Track Summer National Weekend. Night one will be contested at the Hamlin Speedway on Saturday with the second night happening at Penn Can with 600 cc wingless sprints, 270 sprints, slingshots ,Empire Lightning Sprints,and the Xcel 600 modifieds racing at Penn Can. The highly successful event returns with sponsorship from Bob Hilbert Sportswear, Dickie Kieper Speed Supply, and S & S Speedways.

The small car sprint divisions will headline the show once again this season along with the Xcel modifieds. The 600cc wingless sprints along with the popular 270 cc sprints will be on the card. Last July, these two divisions thrilled the Penn Can fans with their side by side racing. This race should attract even more competitors for the big Northeast Classic. The Xcel modifieds will be running a tour event sanctioned by Doug Borger’s Xcel Chassis. .

The slingshot will also be on the Sunday card running a National Tour event. Over thirty slingers came to Penn Can lasts year and put on an excellent racing display with side by side racing throughout the field. The slingshots will compete in a twenty lap feature event. The event will carry national sanctioning and points. Speedway Entertainment rules will be followed with officials from the tour present at the speedway for the event.

For the first time, the Empire Lightning Sprints will be part of the popular Sunday program. The Lightning Sprints have run at the speedway under the Central New York Mini Sprint banner with many of the competitor familiar with the speedway and should put on a great display of racing.

Sponsorship of the small car events will be coming from Bob Hilbert Sportswear, Dickie Kieper Speed Supply, S&S Speedway, along with Hamlin Speedway and Penn Can Speedway. Pit Gates open at 2:00, Grandstand opens at 2:00. Hot laps 4:30 with the first heat at 5:00.
