“Clash at the Can” June 10 – Penn Can Speedway

ANNUAL RACE OF CHAMPIONS “CLASH AT THE CAN” THIS TUESDAY, JUNE 10TH AT PENN CAN SPEEDWAY. ROC MODIFIEDS MINIMUM $5,000 TO WIN – $400 TO TAKE THE GREEN!

BINGHAMTON, NY…The annual Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour “Clash at the Can” is this Tuesday, June 10th at the Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna, PA. The 60 lap Modified event will pay a cool $5,000 to the race winner with $400 posted to take the green. The Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman will also be in action in a 25 lap event paying $1,000 to win. Ryan Watt is the Defending “Clash at the Can” winner. Racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

For members of the American Racer Cup the pay gets even better this Tuesday at Penn Can Speedway. The top three Modified American Racer Cup members across the line on Tuesday will split a $1,000 bonus as follows: 1st member – $500, 2nd member – $300, 3rd member – $200. The Sportsman American Racer Cup Members will take their share of $250 in bonus money to the top three member drivers across the line on Tuesday as follows: 1st member $125 – 2nd member $75 – 3rd member $50.

Rain outs and rescheduled events have plagued the early season Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour. This Tuesday will serve as an “Overall Point Event” as well as a “South Region” event. Stewart Friesen has been on a tear all over the northeast in recent weeks and currently leads the RoC overall and south region points. Friesen, fresh off the RoC “Victoria 200” victory is also the defending Race of Champions Tour Champion.

Matt Sheppard won the battle at Five Mile Point Speedway back in early April and currently sits back in second place in both the overall points and south regional standings. Sheppard is expected to behind the wheel of the Norm Hansell owned 357, the same car that he won with earlier this season on the tour. Rick Laubach is currently third in the overall standings and fourth in the south region battle. Laubach has always has success at the Can and is looking to move up the ladder. Anthony Perrego, the young Modified rookie is a full time competitor on the tour and was impressive at the Bridgeport Speedway earlier this season in the “Doug Hoffman” remembered event. On that day Perrego came from deep in the field to record a top five finish. He is also a back to back winner at Five Mile Point Speedway.

Rocco Infante and Ryan Watt are in the top five in the RoC South Region standings currently. Infante had a fantastic run at the Bridgeport Speedway and plans to follow the entire remaining South Region events. Watt is the Defending “Clash at the Can” race winner from one year ago.

As is the norm a very stout weekly field of Penn Can Speedway Modified talent will be ready to defend their home turf. Joey Grammes a former winner of this event will be joined by the likes of Nick Rochinski, Brian Malcolm, Dan Pompey, Kevin Hartnett, Joey Colsten, Alan Rudalavage and a host of others.

Joining the Race of Champions Dirt Modifieds will be the RoC Sportsman. The race on Tuesday will serve as a South Region event for the Sportsman. Currently Joe Funk leads the way on the RoC Sportsman South Region point race. Kevin Beach, Brandon Walters, Steve Davis and Mike Howardson round out the top five. Many of the top North Region Sportsman drivers will be on hand as well for this middle battleground. Clay Butler is the current North Region point leader over Brandon Walters, Brian White, Jim LaRock and Johnny Cornell III.
