GREGG SATTERLEE SCORES FIRST LINCOLN WIN IN LAZER LATE MODEL CLASH; Cameron Smith Continues Rookie Season Success; Stephen Wurtzer Victorious in Central PA Legends Feature

Saturday, October 15, 2022 (6PM) DEAN’S AUTO PLAZA NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS: 410 Sprints and 358 Sprints [rain date: October 16]

Saturday & Sunday, February 25-26, 2023 ICE BREAKER WEEKEND

Abbottstown, PA (October 8, 2022) – The Inaugural Lazer Late Model Clash went to Gregg Satterlee on Saturday night. It was Satterlee’s first win at the Abbottstown oval. Earlier in the evening Satterlee set a new one-lap track record during time trials of 15.185 seconds. The previous record of 15.583 was held by Bryan Bernheisel.

Satterlee and Rick Eckert shared the front row for the start of the 35-lap feature. Satterlee and Eckert were wheel to wheel at the flag stand with Eckert taking the advantage down the back stretch to lead lap 1. Satterlee held on to second with Dylan Yoder, Bryan Bernheisel and Terver Feathers making up the top five.

Satterlee didn’t let Eckert out of his sight and was looking to the inside of the leader for an opportunity to take the top spot.  The leaders entered lapped traffic on lap 7 which allowed Eckert to create some distance between Satterlee.

Cory Lawler spun in turn 3 bringing out the caution on lap 13. Eckert led Satterlee, Yoder, Bernheisel and Feathers to the cone for the single-file restart. Eckert had a solid restart and Yoder was all over Satterlee for second. Gene Knaub was working on Feathers for a way into the top five.

Satterlee got a good look under Eckert on lap 17 in turn 4 but did not make the pass. Eckert could not shake Satterlee and Gregg took the lead on lap 22 with a pass in turn 2.

Yoder started closing in on Eckert for second and took the spot on lap 24. Yoder started to close in on Satterlee as they raced through lapped traffic. Yoder got high in turn 4 on lap 27 which allowed Eckert to once again content for second.

Feathers was working on Bernheisel for fourth with 5 laps to go as Satterlee paced the field.

Satterlee took the checkered flag 1.516 seconds ahead of Yoder. Eckert crossed the line third and Feather was fourth. Bernheisel completed the top five.

Cameron Smith Continues Rookie Season Success

Tylar Rutherford and Ashley Cappetta made up the front row for the start of the 20-lap 358 sprint car feature on Saturday night. Cappetta led lap 1 with David Holbrook second and Hayden Miller and Cameron Smith battling for third. Smith took third on lap 2 and quickly reeled in Holbrook to battle for second. Smith got by Holbrook on lap 3 and quickly tracked down Cappetta.

Cody Fletcher stopped on the back stretch bringing out the caution on lap 4. The top five for the restart were Cappetta, Smith, Holbrook, Miller and Rutherford.

Smith went to the top on the restart but could not make the pass for the lead. Cameron took over the top spot by inches at the line on lap 6.

Rutherford slowed coming out of turn 4 and nearly collected Kody Hartlaub on the front stretch. Rutherford limped the car into the infield so no caution was thrown.

Smith got out of shape in turn 4 allowing Cappetta to close in to challenge for the lead.

Lap 14 saw a caution for debris on the track. Smith led Cappetta, Holbrook, Miller and Steve Owings to the cone for the restart. Smith had a strong restart and quickly pulled away from the field. Hartlaub got by Owings for fifth.

Tyler Brehm stopped in turn 2 resulting in a caution on lap 18. The yellow flag would wave again on lap 19 when Jayden Wolf was sitting backwards in turn 4.

Smith, Cappetta, Holbrook, Hartlaub and Miller lined up for a one lap shoot out. Smith got to the checkered flag 1.290 seconds ahead of Cappetta for his division leading fourth win of the season. Holbrook crossed the line third and Hartlaub was fourth. Miller completed the top five.

Stephen Wurtzer Victorious in Central PA Legends Feature

Stephen Wurtzer wired the field for his first career Lincoln Speedway Legends win. Wurtzer started on the pole and led the field into turn 1. Preston Alleman was second and Bob Stough was third at the line. Stough brought out the caution on lap 1 when he slowed and stopped in turn 2.

Wurtzer led Alleman, Travis McClelland, Seth Kearchner and Travis Perry for the restart. Wes Alleman came to a stop before the green flag bringing out the caution on the restart. The field lined up again and McClelland got by Preston for second.

Kearchner got by Alleman for third and Perry followed sending Alleman to fifth.

Chris Transeau worked his way into the top five and was all over Perry for fourth. Chad Earnst stopped in turn 2 bringing out the yellow flag on lap 10.

The top five for the restart were Wurtzer, McClelland, Kearchner, Perry and Transeau. Lap 14 saw the caution come out for debris. Devon Friese had worked his way up to fifth for the restart. The top four raced under a blanket as the laps wound down.

Wurtzer got to the checkered flag .609 seconds ahead of McClelland to score his first win at the track. Perry was third and Kearchner finished fourth. Friese completed the top five.
