Wet Weather Forces March Meltdown Cancellation

New Egypt, NJ – After a soaking rain that fell all day on Thursday and is forecasted into Friday afternoon, New Egypt Speedway management has been forced to cancel the 2019 version of the March Meltdown.
“It’s a shame, we have been working night and day to get ready for this, we would have had a great field of cars in the pit area and our fans were excited about it too but unfortunately the weather just isn’t cooperating with us”, said New Egypt’s Joey Liquori. “This rain soaked everything and even more, Saturday has temperatures in the 40’s at race time with 30 mile per hour wind gusts. It’s just not favorable for anyone.”
Attention now turns to New Egypt Speedway’s Open Practice session next Saturday March 30th. Pit gates will open at 10AM for tech inspection with cars hitting the track from 12-4PM. Opening night redraw positions will be available to the fastest car in each weekly NES division. Any car that is New Jersey legal is able to partake in the Open Practice session. Pit admission will be $30 and the grandstands will be completely free.
New Egypt Speedway will then begin its 22nd season as a dirt track on Saturday night April 6th when Oliver Communications Group presents the Cabin Fever 40 for the Vahlco Wheels Modifieds that will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start. The Larry’s Hot Rods & Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars, Crate Modifieds, 4-Cylinders and the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman will all be in action as well. Pit gates will open at Noon for early tech inspection, Grandstands at 4PM with Hot Laps scheduled for 5PM and the first green flag of the 2019 season flying at 6PM. Adult admission will be $22, Seniors (65+) are $20, Teens & Military w/ID are $12 while Kids 11 & Under are FREE.
