THE MADNESS IS BACK, LIBERTY TOYOTA SCION IN BURLINGTON RETURNS AS SPONSOR; KICK OFF PARTY PLANNED FOR MAY 1st
New Egypt, NJ – The May Madness Modified Series will return to New Egypt Speedway in 2015 and Liberty Toyota Scion, located on Route 130 in Burlington, NJ, has returned as a sponsor of the Final Round on Saturday, May 30th. Liberty Toyota Scion has contributed $500 to the overall series point fund along with $500 to the purse for the series finale on May 30th at New Egypt Speedway. The 35-lap, double points finale will now pay $2,700 to win and $325 from 13th to 24th. Laps are also currently on sale for the finale at $20 apiece.
“Last year was such a blast! I wanted May of 2015 to be here as soon as last year’s series ended, and Chris over at Liberty is not only a great partner to work with, he’s a good friend as well,” said series promoter Pete MacDonald.
For those who don’t know what the May Madness Series is, as of May 1, 2015, the 358 Modified point standings will be ranked 1-24 in a bracket style tournament (similar to March Madness in NCAA Basketball). Throughout the four 358 Modified features in May, whomever finishes ahead of the person their bracketed up against moves on to the next round until the finale takes place on May 30th. In the event of a rain out then the next round will take place on the next available week. Normal NES weekly rules/handicapping/lineup procedures will take place.
Ryan Godown was the 2014 May Modified Madness Champion sweeping both the finale and the series championship over Willie Osmun and Tad Cox.
New for 2015, is the ”Win and You’re In.” If you win the feature in any of the three previous rounds, you are automatically qualified to be a part of the finals on May 30th. A maximum of six cars could take part in the final round, the three finalists’ along with the three feature winners from previous rounds (If they are not already of the final group).
Also new for 2015, there will be a May Madness Kick Off Party planned for Friday, May 1st, at Liberty Toyota Scion located on Route 130 in Burlington, NJ from 5-9PM. Cars and stars of New Egypt Speedway will be on hand meeting fans and signing autographs. Look for more information to follow at a later date.
