TALENTED FIELD EXPECTED FOR WALL STADIUM’S MODIFIED “HAUNTED HUNDRED” SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ A large and talented field of Downs Ford Modified stock car drivers can be expected at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (Oct. 24) when the headlining 100-lap feature race offers $5,000 to the winner. The “Haunted Hundred” is just a part of the four division/five main event spooky spectacular dubbed “The Thriller.” Pit area gates will open at 9:00 a.m., practice starts at 10:00 a.m., grandstand seating opens at 11:00 a.m. and qualifying starts at 12:30 p.m. with main events immediately to follow at around 2:00 p.m.
Regular Wall Stadium Modified competitors expected to see action will be led by newly crowned driving champion Steve Reed of Jackson. Eric Mauriello of Howell, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, Ron Frees of Brick and Trevor Alspach of Willingboro are among the other top point earners from the regular season expected to battle.
Howell’s Jimmy Blewett, who made occasional starts at the third mile paved high banked oval during the regular season, says that he will be racing on Saturday as does Zane Zeiner of Bath, Pa., Danny Bohn of Millstone and Tommy Farrell of Shrowesbury. If history is any indication former champion Anthony Sesely of Matawan may also be in the field.
Also on the October 24 Halloween themed card will be the Snap-on Sportsman cars in the “Freakish 50,” the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars in the “Blood Thirsty 30,” and the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks in “Twisted Twin 25’s.”
Fans who arrive at the track in zombie attire will receive a monster discount at the grandstand admission gates and all fans that dress as zombies will participate in a “Thriller Dance Mob” during intermission. Make up artists will be available in the grandstand mid-way as will several Halloween themed events. After the day’s events are complete fans will be invited to visit the pit area to participate in a “trunk or treat” with the race teams.
Once the October 24 event is in the books all attention will turn toward the 41st running of the “Turkey Derby” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
