Sicklerville, NJ (July 29, 2015) – In preparation for the big $10,000 to win Romp in the Swamp race onSeptember 26, several new drivers are planning to attend the final event of the Modified 811 Dig Safely series on Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile oval on Friday, July 31.
The new participants are expected to include Mike Butler.  Butler is a regular competitor in the 358 Modified class at New Egypt Speedway and he will be making his first quarter mile start of the year. Tommy Tanner, an impressive New Egypt Speedway Crate Sportsman rookie, has added this contest to his schedule. Sportsman racer Bobby Butler is planning to be on hand as well. Several other racers are trying to adjust their work schedule or finish their car for this final contest. These drivers and other first time competitors in the series are eligible for a bonus posted by the Blast at the Beach promotional team of Brett Deyo and Eric Kormann. The top finishing newcomer will receive an additional $50 bonus courtesy of the co-promoters. The Blast at the Beach race, featuring Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Chargers and Super Trucks, is set for Tuesday, September 1 at Georgetown Speedway. The initial entrants will be battling the likes of series regulars such as Corey Andersen, Brett Ballard, Lou Cicconi, Johnny Cornell, Frank Holmes, Jimmy Horton, Mike Iles, Richie Pratt, Brad Roberts, and Ron Roberts. After finishing second in his only start on the quarter mile on May 15, Ryan Forte has informed track management that he will be back for this contest.
In addition, a series champion will be crowned on this night. The top driver in points will win a guaranteed starting spot in the $10,000 to win Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship and will be awarded a champion’s check of at least $1,000 at the Bridgeport Speedway banquet. Along with the series winner, the remainder of the top five in the final standings will receive a check from the point fund.  After four events, Jimmy Horton has a sixteen point lead (216-200) over Johnny Cornell in the championship standings. Ron Roberts and Richie Pratt, Jr, are tied for third and trail the leader by twenty markers.
During the intermission of this final race in the Modified 811 Dig Safely Series, a drawing will take place for an outer body kit for a Modified car through the marketing partnership of S&D Bodyline. This special bonus award is limited to those drivers that have competed in each Modified 811 Dig Safely Series including the finale. Going into the last race, six drivers (Brett Ballard, Johnny Cornell, Frank Holmes, Jimmy Horton, Richie Pratt, Jr. and Ron Roberts) remain eligible for the drawing. On Friday, July 31, the speedway gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the first green flag waving at 8:00 p.m.Grandstand admission is $15 for adults while pit admission is $30.
