STSS Announces ‘Battle at Budd’s Creek’ Potomac Speedway Debut Sunday, June 7

BUDD’S CREEK, MD – The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco continues to break new ground.

Racing around regulations in place for COVID-19, the series completed a ‘Carolina Swing’ over Memorial Day weekend. Now, points racing for the Modified and Crate 602 Sportsman of the Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central returns on Sunday, June 7.

For the first time ever, the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds will rumble around the red clay high banks of Potomac Speedway in Budd’s Creek, Md., on June 7. The 50-lap event will serve as the second round of the STSS South Region. The full $25,000-plus series payout – $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to start – will be distributed.

STSS Crate 602 Sportsman (South Region Event No. 2 paying $1,500 to win) and Potomac Speedway’s U-Cars will complete the program on the three-eighths-mile oval.

The ‘Battle at Budd’s Creek’ serves as a co-promotion between BD Motorsports Media LLC and Potomac Speedway general managers Ronnie and Denise Hollidge. Potomac hosted a very well attended return to racing on Memorial Day weekend in an event headlined by the Super Late Models.

Both in-person attendance and a live stream on Dirt Track Digest TV (www.dirttrackdigest.tv) will be available.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:15 p.m. In typical STSS fashion, the show will be run as rapidly as possible.

A complete information sheet will be released on Thursday, May 28 with full pricing and specifications.

Maryland will become the eighth different state to host the Short Track Super Series since its inception in 2014.

The STSS Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central opened on March 7 at Del.’s Georgetown Speedway with Stewart Friesen (Modified) and Jim Housworth (Crate 602 Sportsman) in Victory Lane.
