Herrera Facing World of Outlaws Doubleheader in Texas This Weekend

BROKEN ARROW, OK- February 24, 2016- Johnny Herrera is heading south this weekend to face the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series in Texas.
Herrera will compete on Friday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige for the ATX Rentals Outlaw Shootout and Saturday at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown for the O’Reilly Auto Parts presents the World of Outlaws hosted by Kasey Kahne.
“We going down with our new Maxim cars to shake them down,” he said. “We’re changing things up a bit to a big max chassis. We want to learn a little bit, have a little fun and hopefully do well.”
Herrera has only competed at Cotton Bowl Speedway once. He won a 360ci feature at the track in May 2014.
“It was a fun track, which they always are when you win,” he said. “It got pretty racy by the feature time.”
Saturday will mark Herrera’s first trip to Royal Purple Raceway since the World of Outlaws visit in 2010, when Herrera advanced from 22nd to place 15th. He also scored a sixth-place result with the Outlaws in 2009 at the track.
The goal for this weekend is a pair of consistent performances.
“Of course we go every night to win, but we’re running with the best out there,” he said. “Hopefully we get qualified decent, the driver doesn’t make too many mistakes and we get ourselves a top-10 finish or two.”
