PM__AC_RedBullGRC-48LOS ANGELES, CA – American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has partnered with Red Bull Global Rallycross as presenting sponsor of the series’ third annual event at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on October 8-9. Red Bull Global Rallycross Los Angeles presented by Honda will be a double-header event, and will serve as the season finale for the 2016 season. The event weekend will also mark the first time that the series has held its championship finale in Los Angeles.

“Honda’s entry into Red Bull Global Rallycross this year has been one of the most significant developments of this season,” says Red Bull GRC CEO Colin Dyne. “Time and again they have demonstrated their commitment to winning in motorsports events around the world, and their first season with us has been no exception. As presenting sponsor of our marquee event in Los Angeles, this is just another exciting step forward. We look forward to a fantastic event as we decide this year’s champion.”

“Honda’s entry into Global Rallycross this season has been one exciting ride and a great opportunity to showcase our Civic Coupe to a whole new group of racing fans and car enthusiasts,” said Nick Lee, National Advertising Manager for American Honda Motor Co, Inc. “We’re excited to join with Red Bull Global Rallycross by presenting the series finale in California, where Civic is the best-selling car. It’s a great way to end our inaugural season in GRC racing.”

This March, Honda announced its partnership with Olsbergs MSE for the 2016 Red Bull GRC season, fielding a pair of Civic Coupes for 2014 Supercar champion Joni Wiman and 2015 runner-up Sebastian Eriksson. The new partnership scored its first podium in the first event of the year in Phoenix. With three rounds remaining in the season, Eriksson leads the team with four podiums, while Honda also expanded to a three-car entry in Atlantic City for the first time with the addition of Kevin Eriksson to the team.

Los Angeles is the home of Red Bull GRC, and the only city to host an event in every season of the series’ history. The event moved to the Port of Los Angeles in 2014 as a doubleheader with race winners Scott Speed and Rhys Millen splitting the two victories. Speed took both legs of the event last year, marking the first doubleheader sweep in series history and helping boost him to his first Supercar title.
