HIGH GEAR TOWING CRATE SELECT SERIES KICKOFF/MOTHERS CELEBRATED AT NES
The long-awaited High Gear Towing Crate Selected Series begins Saturday night at the New Egypt Speedway. Ten events are scheduled for the series which will see the winner walking away with $2,000. Second place will pay $1250, third $1000, fourth $750, and fifth $500.
Contingency awards will be given to those drivers finishing in position sixth thru tenth. Each event carries a $30 entry fee, and you must compete in at least eight out of the ten events to be eligible for any of the top ten awards. All New Egypt Speedway rules will be in effect.
Several drivers have expressed an interest in this first ever series at the Route 539 oval and heading the list is the current point leader, Ryan Simmons. Coming off of a big win two weeks ago, the young veteran is always a consistent campaigner and will no doubt be a threat throughout the series. Kris Lilick, Joe Toth, Nick Van Wickle, Johnny Bangs, Kevin Borden, and Tom Princiotta are just a few of the drivers looking for the big pot of gold when October rolls around.
In addition, many outside drivers have shown interest in this series which should make for incredibly competitive racing. Following Saturday night’s event, the schedule is May 28, June 11, June 25, July 16, August 6, August 20, September 3, September 17, and October 1. The final race of the series will carry with it double points.
Even though our annual Mother’s Day/Ladies Night fell victim to the persistent all day rain which hit the area, the mom’s will not be forgotten as all entering the speedway Saturday night will receive a flower compliments of Tom Klimkowski and 622 Racing. In addition, a few gifts to pamper the mothers in attendance will be given away during intermission.
Joining the Hamilton Auto Clinic/RacersGuide.com Crates Saturday night will be the Vahlco Wheels Modifieds headed by points leader Brandon Grosso, Larrys Hot Rods & Harleys NEWS, Wash Wagon 4 Cylinders, and the Rookies.
Due to conflicting engagements, the Stars of the Past Night #1/Tony Siscone Night has been cancelled. If possible, this event will be added to the schedule later in the season. The next Stars of the Past show featuring those competitors, car owners, officials, etc. who were a part of the Route 539 scene from its opening in 1998 thru 2010 is scheduled for July 9th.
Please contact office manager Dawn at 609-758-1900 if you would like to be a part of the show. Racing Saturday night begins promptly at 6PM with warmups scheduled for 5PM. Spectator gates swing open at 4PM.
