Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ Debuts in Houston Market, Dillard Tops 105 Speedway Event
CLEVELAND, TX – The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ debuted in the Houston, Texas market with a massive crowd at 105 Speedway Saturday night.
After 25 laps, point leader Caleb Dillard picked up the milestone victory at the Cleveland, Texas facility, Round No. 7 of the Day Motor Sports point series.
Dillard, of Robeline, La., drove from eighth starting position to take his third Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ triumph of the season, having previously won at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La., on April 9 and Sabine Speedway in Many, La., on May 20.
Dillard marched through traffic, ultimately making the pass of race-long leader Brother Fowlkes on lap 17.
“This car doesn’t really shine until the track gets black and takes some rubber,” Dillard said. “Luckily, I hit the setup right on the head tonight. What a great racetrack; I told my Dad I’ve run on a lot of tracks, but that’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a race car.”
Fowlkes, of Woodworth, La., finished second, followed by Richard Holt (Atlanta, Texas), Tommy Rascoe of Converse, La., and Alan Myers of Sibley, La.
Only one caution slowed the 25-lap event.
Racing resumes for the STSS Ollie’s ‘Cajun Region’ Friday, August 5 at Sabine Speedway (Many, La.) and Saturday, August 6 at Super Bee Speedway (Chatham, La.).
