Newberrytown, PA (May 30, 2015) – Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. became the first repeat BRC Late Model division winner by claiming the victory at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday Night.  Jonestown’s Richard Bossinger claimed his second feature win of the season in the 25-lap Street Stock feature race.  Brian Rehbein of York Haven won the Xtreme Stock Car 20 lapper.  Darren Miller from Mt. Joy won the 20-lap IMCA PA Sprint Series feature race.  The 15-lap Road Warrior feature was won by Tim Osheehan from Dover for his fourth consecutive win of the season.  York Haven’s Zakari Kitner claimed his fourth 12-lap Mini Van feature of the season.  New Oxford’s Roy Denike claimed the 15-lap Double Figure 8 Racing feature event.

 

The front row of Tim Murphy and Randy Christine Jr. brought the field to the green flag in the 25-lap BRC Late Model feature.  Christine Jr. took the lead and set the pace with Cameron Benyou and Murphy second and third respectively.  On lap 16, Chase Billet scooted by Murphy for third place.  A late race caution on lap 18 tightened up the field behind Christine.  On the restart, Christine continued to set the pace to the end to take the win.  Benyou crossed the line in second with Billet in third,  John Moser Jr. finished fourth as Matt Murphy placed fifth.  Potts and Benyou were the heat race winners.

 

Jim Palm Jr. grabbed the early lead of the 25-lap Street Stock feature from outside the front row.  On lap 7, polesitter Richard Bossinger took the top spot way from Palm Jr.  Bossinger set the pace with Palm Jr. and Mike Potts close behind in tow.  Bossinger did not falter as he went on to take the checkers.  Potts challenged Palm on the final two circuits for the runner-up spot but Palm came across the line in second with Potts in third.  Jimmy Combs and Scott Thunberg finished fourth and fifth respectively.  Eddie Richards and Potts were the heat race winners.

 

Zach Newlin led the first lap of the 20-lap IMCA PA Sprint Series feature.  For the first half of the race, Newlin set the pace, but fourth place starter Darrin Miller tracked down the leader and took over the top spot at the halfway point and never looked back to take the victory over Newlin.  Tyler Reeser finished in third with Judi Bates in fourth.  John Martin III came across the line in fifth.  Heat race wins went to Colby Dice, Drew Ritchey and Miller.

 

The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event began with the John Frye taking the early lead with Ronnie Buck close behind in the runner-up spot.   Midway through the race, Brian Rehbein moved into the runner-up spot.  By lap 15, Rehbein passed Frye for the lead to take the win, Travis Horan finished second at the end with Frye in third.  Patrick McClane and Kirby Sites rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth places.  Heat race winners were Sites and McClane.

 

Robert Wellman led the first two laps of the Road Warrior 15 lapper with Tim Osheehan taking the top spot on the third lap.  Osheehan took his fourth consecutive victory with Wellman coming across the line in second.  Brian Lefebvre finished third to take a podium finish.  Travis Brown and Richard Grim Jr. finished fourth and fifth place respectively.  Gary Grim and Wellman were heat race winners.

 

Zakari Kitner took the early lead from a fourth place starting spot at the start of the 12-lap Mini Van race and edged out Dennis Dorosz at the finish to take the victory.  Roy Denike finished third, followed by Richard Wolf and Zach Rock in fourth and fifth places respectively.

 

Earlier in the night, Roy Denike maneuvered his way through the 15-lap Double Figure 8 Race to take the victory over Keith Stamm.  Daryl Sipe finished third with Dennis Dorosz in fourth.  Richard Wolfe led four laps in the race, but failed to finish and was recorded in fifth place.

 

The next Wednesday night Test & Tune will be on Wednesday, June 3.  The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost is $14.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($34.00 per car & driver combination).  Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class.  Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session.  The grandstands are open and free to the public.  Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.   The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night.

 

Also on Wednesday night, June 3, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets, karts and Adult Speedcars at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights.  The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas.  All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”

 

There will be no SSP Outback Track racing on Friday, June 5 as the event that night has been cancelled.   Friday Night, June 12, the ninth round of the Spring Shoot-Out Series will take place at the Outback Track featuring Quarter Midgets, Karts and Adult Speedcars.  It will be a special Double Features Race.  The pit gates will open 5:45 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:20 p.m.  Open practice begins at 7:00 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m.  The entry fees for each class will be $20.00 per entry for drivers with the seasonal (Spring/Summer) license.  Pit pass fees for the driver are included in the entry fee.  Non-license driver’s entry fees will be $25.00.  Participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class).  Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class regardless of class entry count.  No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.

 

Pit pass prices for non-drivers at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 18 & older; Teens & Children ages 11 – 17 are $5.00; Children 10 years of age and under are $3.00.  Ages 2 & under are admitted free.

 

Up next at the SSP Big Track will be the USAC Eastern Storm Finale featuring the USAC wingless Sprint Cars on Sunday, June 7There will be no racing on Saturday night, June 7.  The pit gates will open at 3:30 p.m.  Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m.  Warm-ups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying following.  Racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

 

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Sunday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $25.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $20.00; Children (10 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $35.00 with a reduced price of $30.00 for all USAC license holders.

Madison House XSC Hard Charger Award – For every regular season Xtreme Stock Car feature event, Madison House will present a Hard Charger Award to the driver that improves the most positions from their starting spot in the feature event.  The winner will receive $25.00 compliments of Madison House (York) and be eligible for post-season awards for accumulating the most Hard Charger Awards during the season.  To be eligible, the driver must be on the lead lap and finish the race.  If two drivers improve the same amount of positions, the tiebreaker will be the driver starting closer to the pole position being awarded the Hard Charger of the race.
