114VERNON, NY- May 24, 2016- Utica-Rome Speedway fought the good fight on Sunday night but Mother Nature ended up winning out at the end of the day.  This forced the postponement of the Ferris Industries Race of Champions Series fueled by Sunoco Race Fuels “Victoria 200” for the Modifieds as well as the Gnome Cup for the Go Nuclear Late Model Series which was on the speedway as the rains began falling.

In an effort to reward the fans and drivers for their support of Sunday’s event, series and speedway officials have rescheduled the conclusion of both races for Sunday, August 14th with a 1pm start time.  All fans and drivers that were in attendance are asked to hold on to their rainchecks and wristbands for this event.  Their admission tickets will be honored for this make-up date.

1-IMG_9104-X3Series and speedway officials chose to utilize this date in order to save expense and travel time allowing teams to compete in two events on the same day.  Following the conclusion of two features, the grandstands and pits will be cleared.  At that point the Race of Champions Series Modifieds have another full round of qualifying before competing in a 60-lap Night of Legends, $6,000 to win event that was previously scheduled.  The Crate Late Models have also been added to the Sunday night program allowing teams that travel back for the Go Nuclear Late Model portion of the race to compete in a second event which will be run as a non-sanctioned program.

Anyone that was not at the event can purchase tickets for the afternoon show for $13.  Pit passes will also be available for the $27 for members and $32 for non-members.

Racing action for the second program is scheduled to go green at 6pm which includes the Race of Champions Modifieds, Crate Late Models, SUNY Canton 602 Sportsman as well as the G&I Homes of Vernon Pro Stocks.   Prices are $22 general admission in the grandstands while the members are $27 and non-members are $32 for the pit area.
