PM_WilliamsGrove_052016-52-X2CARLISLE, PA- May 24, 2016- The Posse versus Outlaw feud is one of the greatest rivalries in sports. Fans, drivers and tracks help fuel the fire.

The number one argument, who is the best? In 2014 Pennsylvania Sprint Car News rolled out a one of a kind points championship to answer that argument.

“In 2013 we kicked the idea around. A few series hold regional points standings, there is no such thing for this rivalry.” Mike Baker, Founder of PA Sprint Car News said.

How is this unique? For starters, points are only awarded to drivers who make the features. It is also the only points system that measures a local division versus the Outlaws across all their visits to the area.

“We argue and bicker who kicked who’s butts when the Outlaws are here. This will settle the score.” Baker expressed.

In 2014 Daryn Pittman grabbed the inaugural championship. Last year it came down the final race at Port Royal. The leader Stevie Smith was a no show and the championship was handed over to Donny Schatz.

One trophy will stay with the overall champion. The second trophy will be a traveling trophy. It will stay with the overall championship team, PA Posse, which PA Sprint Car News will hold on to or at The World of Outlaws headquarters in Concord, NC and will change hands yearly based one which team has the most drivers finishing in the top ten in points. Both trophies will be awarded at the season finale at Port Royal Speedway in October.

“I’m so excited to take this championship to the next level. The sky is the limit as to what we do next.” Baker added.

The Posse and Outlaws drew even with Donny Schatz scoring the win Thursday night at Lincoln. One night later, Lance Dewease grabbed the win from Schatz and Greg Hodnett at Williams Grove.
