MALTA, N.Y. – July 4, 2015 – A deep, strong field of Big-Block Modified invaders and talented locals will square off at Albany-Saratoga Speedway Tuesday, July 7 in driver/promoter Brett Hearn’s “Big Show VII”, one of the premier events of the 2015 Super DIRTcar Series.

Primary sponsors Recovery Sports Grill, Ferris Mowers, Cedar Peaks Enterprises, and VP Racing Fuels have been joined by Halmar International, which is providing a car for NASCAR personality Kenny Wallace, a dirt track racing enthusiast, to drive in Big Show VII.

“We had talked with him about making an appearance and signing autographs, but now he’ll be able to go racing too,” Hearn said. “The purse is now over $35,000 and it pays $10,000-to-win and $500 to start. I think this could be the best Big Show yet.”

Hearn, Albany-Saratoga’s winningest driver and an eight-time Super DIRTcar Series champion, has won the Big Show himself once (2013). Billy Decker of Unadilla, N.Y., the defending series champion – currently second in the standings – is a two-time Big Show winner.

Series point leader Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, N.Y., who has won three of the first seven events this season, comes in looking for his first Big Show win. Number three point-man, Danny Johnson of Rochester, was the 2014 winner.

Other top invaders include Jimmy Phelps, Stewart Friesen, Larry Wight, Pat Ward, Billy Dunn, Tim Fuller and Peter Britten. Keith Flach, Mark Kislowski and Britten are Super DIRTcar Series competitors with Albany-Saratoga as their home track.

There is no shortage of Albany-Saratoga regulars more than capable of walking off with the $10,000 winner’s check, including the “Sand Lake Slingshot” Kenny Tremont Jr., Marc Johnson of Guilderland, Ronnie Johnson of Duanesburg, Matt Delorenzo and Jack Cottrell.

Hearn is hoping to jumpstart his 2015 Super DIRTcar Series season at the Big Show VII. He has 10 wins combined in weekly appearances at Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley and is battling with Tremont Jr. for the point lead at both tracks, but he has yet to record a podium finish in the series.

“I did win down at Volusia (FL) in February, but that wasn’t a point-race,” he said. “We’re not where we need to be. We always seem to be recovering from something and haven’t found a rhythm yet. At Utica-Rome I had a broken tailpipe that cut a line and I lost the brakes. Out at Ohsweken (ON), I got up to 4 th and then struggled on some restarts.”

“There’s $10,000 on the table for whoever wins it,” Hearn summed up. “I’m not giving anybody anything. I’d like to win it for myself.”

Gates open at 4 p.m. An autograph session between 5-6 p.m. will include Kenny Wallace, the stars of the Super DIRTcar Series and Albany-Saratoga’s top regulars.
