Pete Bicknell Captures 358 Modified Feature At Ransomville

171RANSOMVILLE, NY- August 7, 2016- It was Hawaiian Night at Ransomville Speedway last Friday night. Filling up the VIP Towers were Regional Haulage, Tim Hortons and the Lions Club.

Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ontario won his second feature of the season at Ransomville Speedway in the thirty lap Krown Undercoating feature Bicknell would also take over the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified points lead.

Bicknell took over the lead on lap three from then leader John Smith of Niagara Falls, NY. Bicknell would then go out to a half track advantage. Bicknell is a thirteen time Ransomville Speedway champion, looking to hook up for another title.

Erick Rudolph, who had to come through the pack moved into third on lap eighteen. At that time, Bicknell had an eight second lead over defending division champion Ryan Susice.

066With Bicknell enjoying a large lead, most of the onlookers were keeping an eye on Rudolph and Tommy Flannigan of St. Catharines as they battled for second. Flannigan, who is enjoying one of his best seasons, would maintain the spot at the finish.

Rudolph of Ransomville took third. Chad Brachmann of Sanborn, NY was fourth. Ryan Susice, also of Ransomville was fifth. John Smith ended up sixth. Allan Wills of Ransomville was seventh. Scott Kerwin of Newfane, NY was eighth. Rick Richner of Niagara Falls, NY was ninth. Jeff McGinnis of Ransomville was tenth.

The feature had just one caution period on lap one when Nick Joy of Lyndonville, NY hit the turn four outside wall. Joy was fine after being checked out by Ransomville Firemen. His race car needed help back to the pits via the tow truck.

Heat race winners in the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds were John Smith and Nick Joy.

In the twenty-five lap Investors Service Company Sportsman feature, Greg Martin of Wilson, NY won his third feature of the season. Martin becomes the second driver in two weeks to pick up his third win of the season. By rule, Martin had to surrender his motor to tech officials afterwards. The motor will be put on the dyno at LJL Kevlar. Martin took the lead away from Dave DiPietro of North Tonawanda, NY on the back straight. DiPietro had led from the start of the race.

Division points leader Matt Farnham of Tonawanda came from deep in the field to finish second. Derrick Borkenhagen of Ransomville was third. James Henry of Niagara Falls, NY took fourth in the Dave Conant Sportsman after his car suffered mechanical difficulties in warm-ups. Ransomville drivers Jim Harbison and Billy Coleman finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Brett Senek of Ransomville was seventh. DiPietro was eighth. Kevin Wills of Ransomville came back to finish ninth after being involved in a early race accident. Mike Williams of the Tuscarora Nation, NY was tenth.

The heat race winners were Dave DiPietro Jr, Brett Senek and Matt Farnham.

Jaren Israel of Wilson took his fourth Ransomville Speedway victory of the 2016 season in the twenty lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stock feature. Jaren held off the division points leader Cory Sawyer of Niagara Falls, NY at the finish line. Jaren took the lead on lap twelve after his dad Roger had smoke coming from his engine, who was leading. Roger had led from the drop of the green flag. Roger would drive his car to the pits, ending his night. Jaren’s win placed him second in points. Finishing third was Billy Bleich Jr of Port Robinson, Ontario. Ryan Hoolihan of Sanborn, NY was fourth. Ben Hornquist had his best finish of the season with fifth. Chris Dziomba of North Tonawanda, NY was sixth. Brian Monahan of Ransomville was seventh. Austin Hauser of Lockport, NY was eighth. Pat Dell of Niagara Falls, NY and Kyle Wendt of Ransomville rounded out the top ten..

Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks heat winners were Jaren Israel and Cory Sawyer.

In the twelve lap Gippsters Collision Four Banger feature, Brendan O’Keefe of Wilson took the lead on the final lap, passing Chad Lederhouse on the outside. Mike Kramarz of Niagara Falls, NY finished second while Lederhouse would settle for third. Current points leader Cole Susice of Ransomville was fourth. Steve Matson also of Ransomville was fifth. Pat O’Keefe of Youngstown, NY was sixth. Anthony Guthrie of Niagara Falls, NY was seventh. Eighth was Ryan Plante of Grand Island, NY. Ashley Harbison of Ransomville was ninth. Rounding out the top ten was Anthony Hermanson of Niagara Falls, NY.

Heat race winners in the Gippsters Collision Four Bangers were Brendan O’Keefe and Steve Matson.

In the fifteen lap Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman feature, it was Andrew Spurback of Niagara Falls, NY winning for the second time this season. Spurback started on the outside pole position and took the lead at the start of the feature. The yellow came out on lap six when Cliff Gregg of Ransomville spun between turns three n four. Robbie Johnston got caught behind Gregg in the mishap. Off the restart, Justin McKay of North Tonawanda moved into second. Spurback was just too strong , McKay would finish second. Zach George of Wilson was third. Bryan Harris of Olcott, NY was fourth. Garrison Krentz of Tonawanda was fifth. Bubby Pawlak of Wilson was sixth. Cam Tuttle, also of Wilson was seventh. Darrell Borkenhagen of Sanborn was eighth. Robbie Johnston was ninth. Tenth was Tommy Lalomia Jr.

This Friday night it will be the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Investors Service Company Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Gippsters Collision Four Bangers and the Van Raine Collision Novice Sportsman. Sponsoring the night’s activities will be Ki-Po Chevrolet and Stirling Lubricants. Racing will be begin at 7:15pm. Grandstand gates will open at 6pm and the Pit gates will sing open at 6pm.
