344BEAVER DAM, Wisc.-June 24, 2016- Paul McMahan has had arguably the worst luck of any driver on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series this year.

Whether it’s been flat tires, getting caught up in other people’s accidents, having freak mechanical failures or a bevy of other circumstances; if it can happen, it probably has happened to McMahan and his No. 7 Destiny Motorsports entry.

However, he has finished in the top-10 in each of the last two World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races and looks to turn his season around at Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin on June 25, during the seventh annual Jim Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers.

McMahan has had a fair amount of success at the high-banked third-mile bullring over the years. He has eight top-10 finishes at the track, with five of those being top-five performances, including a runner-up finish in 2010.

“Beaver Dam (Raceway) is unique in itself,” said McMahan. “It’s one of the places I always enjoy going to. It usually has a top and bottom groove and is a fun place to race at. I’ve run well there in the past, so hopefully when we get there this year we can continue that.”

083McMahan, who is currently 10th in series points, has nine top-10 finishes this season as he chases his first top-five and first victory. Destiny Motorsports, led by veteran crew chief Scott Benic, is in their second full season on the road with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“We have been getting more competitive each night, but we are by no means where we need to be yet. Rick and Barb Rogers are giving us every opportunity we need to do what we need to do. For some reason, right now, the racing gods are frowning down on us instead of smiling down on us. We just have to keep plugging away and things will turn around.”

The visit to Beaver Dam Raceway is part of a busy stretch of 11 races in 25 days for McMahan and his fellow competitors. During that span, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will visit 10 tracks in 10 different states.

“Racing that much can either help you or hurt you,” McMahan added. “When you are having bad luck, it will beat you down in a heartbeat. I’m been doing this long enough and have been through this type of stuff in my career at different times. I know that each day when I come to the race track I have an opportunity to win. I just need to have a little luck and get that breakthrough. Once you do that, things will start picking up for you.”

PM_NES_WoO_052416-38Even though it’s been a tough season so far to say the least, McMahan is still positive and looks forward to getting to the track each night, because it only takes one spark to turn everything around and get on a hot streak. For the veteran driver, perseverance is the only approach to being successful in the racing game.

“We just have to keep working. I’ve never shied away from work. I’ve never shied away from hard times. This is part of our sport and everyone goes through it. We’ll just keep working every day and when we are able to get back to the shop, we keep trying to figure out how to get faster. We’ll just keep after it.”
