Second Annual Jack Johnson Night to Feature 60-lap Race of Champions Dirt Modified Feature

FONDA, NY- August 5, 2016- The Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco heads to the “Track of Champions” – Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway for the Jack Johnson Night on Wednesday, August 10. Johnson of Duanesburg, N.Y., captured 11 track championships at Fonda and is one of the legends of dirt modified racing. His career spanned several decades, where he called Fonda his home track throughout his illustrious career, which was highlighted by two victories on the mile in Syracuse in 1979 and 1984.
“It is truly an honor to have an opportunity to be a part of night like this,” stated Pete Demitraszek, who operates Fonda Speedway. “Jack Johnson helped make Fonda Speedway what it is today and he is one of the true champions of the sport, not just Fonda Speedway. It’s a night we are all anticipating and look forward to having a great event.”
Jack Johnson Night will feature a 60-lap Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series feature, with the winner taking home $4,000 for their efforts around the legendary 1/2-mile oval. Several of dirt Modified racing’s stars are sure to be on hand for the event in honor of Johnson.
“We are looking forward to getting back to Fonda,” stated Billy Dunn, driver of the Frosty’s Ice Cream, Number One Speed Bicknell Chassis. “It’s a challenging track with a lot of speed and plenty of room to race. It’s also great to honor a guy like Jack Johnson. He is one of the true legends of our sport and someone I looked up to when I saw him race. You always looked forward to seeing those guys race. It made us all better.”
The gates will open at Fonda Speedway for fans on Wednesday, August 10 at 4:30 pm with racing beginning at 7:30 pm.
