New Egypt, NJ (October 22, 2017) – At New Egypt Speedway’s All Star Cup
Shootout presented by the Flemington Car & Truck Country Family of
Dealerships and 48Barriers.com, Brandon Grosso gained his first Modified
feature victory. Kyle Lilick topped the field in the main event for the
Hammer Sportsman. The Crate Modified feature was won by Matt Stangle while
Ryan Godown scored the checkered flag in the Northeast Wingless Sprint Car
contest.

When the 60-lap Modified feature got underway, Dominick Buffalino grabbed
the lead with Jimmy Horton and Brandon Grosso next in line. On lap three,
Grosso moved past Horton to take over second with Duane Howard advancing
into fourth. The top four of Buffalino, Grosso, Horton and Howard were
intact when the first appearance of the yellow flag took place for John
Pakenham on the eighth tour. When action resumed, Grosso zipped by Buffalino
to take the top running position with Howard motoring into third. After two
more caution periods, Grosso was still in command on lap thirteen with
Howard, Buffalino, Horton, and Mike Gular in tow. Setting a torrid pace,
Grosso began to enter lap traffic on the nineteenth circuit. On lap
twenty-six as the top runners were slicing their way by slower competitors,
the third place running Buffalino spun to bring out the yellow flag. On the
ensuing restart, Grosso fended off Howard to maintain his edge with Horton,
Billy Pauch, Jr. and Gular in his tracks. At the halfway point, a fuel stop
took place and Grosso was still on top with Howard, Horton, Pauch, Jr. and
Gular rounding out the top five. Following the brief break, Grosso outgunned
Howard again to keep his lead with Pauch, Jr. taking over third. With twenty
laps remaining, Grosso was beginning to encounter lap traffic as Howard was
trying to hold off Pauch, Jr. for second place. With ten to go, Grosso was
knifing his way through competitors as Howard and Pauch, Jr. were in a
battle for second while Horton was trying to hold off Brett Kressley for
fourth. On lap fifty-four, the yellow lights illuminated for the final time
for JR Fulper. As the green flag waved, Grosso repelled another challenge by
Howard to hold onto his lead. Over the final tours, Grosso continued to pull
away from the field and led them to the finish line for his first career
Modified win. Howard edged Pauch, Jr. by less than a car length to come home
in second. A late run by David VanHorn earned him fourth place and fifth was
taken by Horton. Jimmy Horton, Jeff Strunk and Mike Gular scored wins in the
Modified heat races.

The 25-lap Hammer Sportsman feature went down to the wire as a last circuit
pass gave Kyle Lilick the victory. Polesitter Jeff Bubori took control of
the race at the start and he drove to a straightaway advantage with ten
revolutions recorded. Kyle Lilick, who started the event in thirteenth,
climbed into second place just before the halfway mark. With five to go,
Bubori’s lead had been cut in half as Lilick was quickly tracking him down.
As the white flag waved, Lilick was nearing the bumper of Bubori. Coming out
of turn four on the last circuit, Lilick used the inside land to slip past
Bubori to claim his first New Egypt Speedway checkered flag. With Bubori in
second, Pat Wall was third. Brian Papiez finished in fourth and fifth went
to Jim Housworth. The Sportsman qualifying events were taken by Pat Wall and
Art Liedl.

After grabbing the lead from Frank Dorry, Jr. on the sixth circuit, Matt
Stangle headed the field to the finish line to take the 25-lap feature for
the Crate Modifieds. Dorry, Jr. followed Stangle to claim second place. Ryan
Simmons completed the race in third. Kyle Kania was fourth and Jeremy
Martino was fifth. Matt Stangle and Alonzo Morales were the Crate Modified
heat race victors.

Ryan Godown took the lead on the fifth tour and paced the field for the
remaining distance to collect his eleventh win of the year in the 20-lap
feature for the Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars. Lee Nardelli was the
runner-up. Third place was taken by Eric Jennings. Bobby Tersillo and Brody
Adamsky completed the top five. Rich Mellor won the qualifying contest for
the Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars.
