TWO BIG EVENTS OF RACING TOPPED BY $25,000 TO WIN FREEDOM 76 MODIFIED CLASSIC SET FOR SEPT. 12-13 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 8, 2014 . . . Many of the best known names in dirt track Modified stock car racing are planning to compete for a starting spot in the $25,000 to win 44th Annual Freedom 76 Classic at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 13th at 7 p.m.

And fans will be able to get warmed up for the Saturday action with a first time Friday night doubleheader featuring the exciting American Racing Drivers Club wingless midgets and the Race of Champions Sportsman stock cars with the green flag falling at 7:30 p.m. The ROC Sportsman event, “The 38er”, will pay $1,500 to win. As an added attraction on Friday night the Modified racers planning to take part in the Freedom 76 activities are invited to participate in practice sessions.

The winner of “The 38er” will earn a guaranteed starting spot in the big ROC Sportsman event at Five Mile Point Speedway on October 10th and the Freedom 76 winner will get a guaranteed starting spot in the big American Racer Cup Modified event at Five Mile Point Speedway on October 11.

The 44th Annual Freedom 76 has attracted entries from Billy Pauch Sr. (a six time 76’er winner), Billy Pauch Jr. (a rising young star in area racing), Ryan Godown (a standout at many area speedways), along with a long list of Grandview standouts including newly crowned American Racer Cup champion Duane Howard, 10-time Grandview Modified titleholder Jeff Strunk, veterans Meme DeSantis, Doug Manmiller, Ray Swinehart, seven time track champion Craig VonDohren, Mike Gular, rising star Tim Buckwalter and a host of many others. Last year’s race attracted more than 70 entries.

Dirt track legend Doctor Danny Johnson is a guaranteed starter based on his win in the $10,000 to win Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings.

The Freedom 76, including qualifying heat races, $1,000 to win Cash Dash, Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 and the 76-lap Classic, will start at 7 p.m. with warm-up sessions at approximately 6 p.m.

Spectator gates open on Friday at 5:30 p.m. while the pits will be open at 3 p.m. Adult admission is $12 while youngsters 6 through 12 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Pit passes are $30. Advance tickets for the Freedom 76 will be on sale until intermission. Spectators are asked to remove pillows and blankets from seats when they are leaving after the Friday night events.

On Saturday the pits open at 9 a.m. and pit admission is priced at $45. Entry fee on race day is $115 and that includes one pit pass. Spectator gates open at 3 p.m. for advance ticket holders. The ticket offices will open at 3:30 p.m. with adult prices set at $35, youngsters 6 thru 12 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free.

There is a Saturday, September 20th rain date in place and will follow the same schedule. Should the Friday events being rained out they will not be rescheduled.

Saturday race attendees are advised that season pass holders are entitled to their reserved seats which are numbered.

Camping and parking is available on the speedway grounds free while space remains available. There are other areas surround the track that will offer paid parking at reasonable rates. For campers there are no open fires allowed, no pallet burning, no block parking for campers, and no roping off of areas.

Grandview Speedway offers outstanding concession facilities and 12×12 containers of beverages are permitted but no glass bottles allowed.

The one-third-mile, banked clay speedway is located on Passmore Road in Bechtelsville, PA just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
