Mechanicsburg Pa. September 20, 2016 – Presented by PeopleReady, the Lawrence Chevrolet sprint cars will tune up for the 54th annual Williams Grove Speedway World of Outlaws Champion Racing Oil National Open this Friday night, September 23 at 8 pm.
With the National Open looming September 29, 30 and October 1, this will be the last chance for the Williams Grove regulars known as the Pennsylvania Posse to ready themselves for the big three-day event the following week.
The National Open tune up race will crown the 2016 Hoosier Diamond Series champion in the 410 sprint division while the National Open itself will crown the season-long track titlist.
The sprint car feature will pay $4,000 to win with time trials setting the starting lineups for heat races, followed by a dash and the 25-lap main event.
The HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprints will also be in action for their final show of the season with the champion being crowned in that divison.
General admission for the show is $15 for adults and $10 for youth ages 13 – 20.
Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted free at Williams Grove Speedway!
The Williams Grove portion of the 50/50 on September 23 will be donated to the Lymphoma Society.
Greg Hodnett currently leads the points in both the 2016 Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint season-long title chase along with the Diamond Series.
If he is able to win the 2016 Diamond Series title, the laurels would be the seventh of his Williams Grove career after also taking crowns in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014 and in 2015.
Hodnett’s Diamond titles to date have come at the wheel of the Bob Stewart No. 12 (2003); Jim and Sandy Kline No. 22 (2007, 2010); John Trone No. 39 (2012); and the Mike Heffner No. 27 (2014, 2015).
Following the 358 portion of the show with the champion decided, Williams Grove officials will bestow the 2016 track title laurels to the titlist along with awards for top the top 10 in 358 points.
Kevin Nouse enters the race with his third career Williams Grove track title already wrapped up for 2016, now out of reach of any challengers during the final race.
Other 358 sprint honors to be handed out include Rookie of the Year honors, Most Improved Driver and the Jerry Reigle Sportsmanship Award.
The three-day Champion Racing Oil World of Outlaws National Open will take place at the track on September 29, 30 and October 1.
