‘TC’ Making the Trip to Concord to Race Brady’s No. 00

Concord NC- March 18,2016- Ted Christopher is no stranger to victory lane at Concord Speedway (NC). The veteran Modified racer from Plainville, Connecticut is the only driver to ever win a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event at the unique half-mile tri-oval. With the tour returning to Concord Saturday for the first time since his win in 2009, Christopher will be returning to the track to pilot the Brady family’s No. 00 machine.
“I gave them my spec motor because that’s what everyone runs in them things down there and because I wanted to go to the North-South Shootout last year but nothing came of it. We lost some sponsorships so we didn’t get to go there, but I’ve always liked racing at Concord.”
During the only previous NWSMT race held at Concord, Christopher started from the outside pole and led all 150 laps on his way to victory lane. His previous success at the track and the up-on-the-wheel driving style required to tackle the tricky tri-oval made the decision to travel to North Carolina an easy one for “TC.”
“I’ve always done well there and the best part is that from a driver’s standpoint it’s a great race track to race at,” he explained. “There’s a lot of speed and I like places that are high speed like that and challenging. Concord is definitely challenging; it’s not your normal race track.”
Saturday’s race will serve as the first race for Christopher in the legendary No. 00 since the passing of car owner Joe Brady. For years, Christopher and Brady teamed up to win many races including the 2009 NWSMT race at Concord.
“It’s always special to win, but it’d be pretty special to win in the first race since Joe’s passing,” Christopher said. “We’ll see what happens. We’ve run pretty well there, but those southern guys are good and have a little bit up on you since they race that series all the time. They don’t go to Concord all the time, so hopefully it will be an equal playing field.”
