Super DIRT Week XLIV Wednesday Notebook
78 Big Block Modifieds took to the track for a 2 hour practice yesterday, some drivers entered two cars but some drivers such as Brett Hearn didnt participate in the session.
The throwback paint schemes are beyond phenomenal and I wish more teams participated, I get they only had a few weeks to put this all together, but still. Look for another article on that in the coming days.
Billy Decker was the fastest in Wednesday’s practice at 31.774 seconds around the Moody Mile at the New York State Fairgrounds.
A lot of attention has centered around Dave Blaney and the Halmar Racing Team. Blaney was quick right out of the box and seems like he hasn’t skipped a beat here at Syracuse.
Jimmy Horton has picked up the ride in the Halmar 14j that was vacated by Alan Johnson after yesterday’s practice. Horton was originally supposed to team up with Halmar for this week but didn’t due to unfortunate circumstances.
New Jersey phenom “The Real Deal” Ryan Krachun is here taking part in the 150 Mile 358 Modified race, it is his first time on a one-mile race track.
I can’t tell you the last time there was this many campers here on a Wednesday, it seemed almost full already. I guess because it’s the last time people wanted to make sure they were here to witness history.
