MINERSVILLE, PA –April 22, 2016- Next stop, Minersville. The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By VP ventures to Big Diamond Speedway on Tuesday, May 10 for the ‘Anthracite Assault’ spectacular featuring the Halmar International North Region, Velocita South Region and new Open Sportsman inaugural: all in one night!
Only at Big Diamond in the Anthracite Region of Pennsylvania will the stars of the North and South regions collide at one venue in a lucrative 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified main event offering $5,000-plus to the winner, $1,000 for 10th-place and $400 just to take the green flag.
The total STSS Modified purse structure tops $25,700 with additional lap money, bonuses, contingency awards and product to be distributed to racers.

The STSS South Region has completed two of its seven races entering Big Diamond. Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y., opened 2016 with a victory at Georgetown (Del.), while Wade Hendrickson of Lawrenceville, N.J., upset the Bridgeport (N.J.) field. Perrego narrowly leads the South point standings over Ryan Godown and Stewart Friesen.
Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y., was the site of the only STSS North Region contested this season. Tommy Meier of Waldwick, N.J., was credited with his first-ever series win in the 50-lap main.
Points for both series will be awarded at Big Diamond. Sail panels will be utilized on the Modifieds.
Last year Rick Laubach of Hellertown, Pa., won the ‘Anthracite Assault’ special under threatening skies. He bested Friesen in a final drive to the checkered.
The first event of the STSS Open Sportsman circuit takes place at Big Diamond. A $1,000-to-win, $125-to-start 25-lap main is on the agenda. Big Diamond kicks off the series which also includes two events at both Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, N.Y. and I-88 Speedway in Afton, N.Y., plus single stops at Accord (N.Y.) Speedway and Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.
XCel 600 Modifieds complete the program racing for $1,000 to win in a 20-lap main.
Pit gates unlock at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 7:15 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:45 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission is $25. Kids 12 and under and Military with ID are admitted FREE. Pit admission is $35 with no license required.
A rain date of Tuesday, May 17 is in place for this event.
Big Diamond Speedway is a three-eighths-mile clay oval located in Minersville, Pa., just miles from Pottsville.
