MILLSBORO, DE – Since its inception in 2014, the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco has raised the bar for dirt Modified racing.
That tradition continues for 2019.
When the STSS was founded, a base purse structure of $25,170 was established paying $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green for all Modified events. This structure became a favorite among drivers and car owner for its balanced distribution throughout the field.
For the ’19 season, the STSS has again gone above and beyond for its teams.
Eight events on this season’s schedule will exceed the minimum $5,000-to-win required pay structure while maintaining shorter distance races easier on equipment and more attainable for the ‘weekend racer’ to conquer.
The Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central launches Saturday, March 16 with the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial paying $6,949 to win and $490 to start plus $49 for all of its 49 laps at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway.
New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway returns to the schedule on Thursday, May 23 and rewards competitors with $6,000 to win for 40 laps of racing in the Garden State.
The annual visit to BAPS Motor Speedway in Newberrytown, Pa., has become a fan favorite each summer. Once again, the 50-lap Sunoco Race Fuels/Insinger Performance York County Nationals will offer $10,000 to win on Sunday, July 14.
MAV-TV cameras will be present on Tuesday, August 27 when Georgetown Speedway hosts the ‘Blast at the Beach’ event, which will now reward the 35-lap STSS Modified winner with $6,000.
The STSS Halmar International North Region launches with a huge payday at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y. on Sunday, April 7. The ‘Hard Clay Open’ celebrates 100 years of racing at the Legendary House of Power by paying a massive $11,919 to the winner and $700 to take the green flag for 50 laps!
The first-ever visit to Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway by the STSS on Wednesday, July 3 for the ‘Firecracker 50’ will pay $10,000 to win plus $100 per lap thanks to the promotional assistance of local businessman John Lakata. The Fonda event will be recorded for broadcast on MAV-TV.
Ted and Brandi White’s paperclip-shaped Woodhull (N.Y.) Raceway will provide 55 laps of elbow’s-up excitement and the winner will take home a very healthy $5,500 to win, celebrating 55 years of racing at the high-banked oval on Tuesday, August 13.
The Halmar International North Region championship event at Orange County Fair Speedway on Thursday, October 24 will reward the 50-lap victor with $10,000 as a kickoff to Eastern States Weekend.
Despite a travel-friendly schedule with just 16 events, a point fund of more than $75,000 will be paid by STSS officials at year-end, not to mention potential $25,000 or $10,000 Sunoco Race Fuels/Insinger Performance bonuses should a driver win titles on the STSS and American Racer Cup home-track program.
Race fans across the country will be able to watch the STSS action LIVE on www.DirtTrackDigest.tv in 2019.
