Saturated Grounds at Grandview Speedway Force Postponement of March 28 Practice to Thursday, April 2 Lot of Questions to be Answered on NASCAR Stock Car Racing Opening Night April 4
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 26, 2015 . . . Ma Nature or is it Pa Nature continues to create problems for local speedways as they try to get the 2015 season underway. Grandview Speedway had planned a Free-to-the-Public practice session for Saturday, March 28th but because of saturated grounds created by heavy rains the practice is now set for Thursday, April 2nd starting at 6 p.m. and running until 10 p.m.
“We felt it was important for racers to have some track time before the season starts,” said track operator Bruce Rogers. “The weather picture is looking brighter during the week and we are making every to get the practice in on Thursday.
And then the season officially goes green. Fans have questions to be answered on opening night, the start of the 53rd consecutive season of stock car racing, at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 4th at 7 p.m.
What drivers will be returning to action in the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars on opening night? What new drivers will be there to test their skills on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval? Who will be in what car?
The big questions for fans are who will win the feature races on opening night and who has the best shot to win the championship in each division? Hot picks for an opening night victory in the NASCAR 358 Modifieds include champion Jeff Strunk, Duane Howard, Craig VonDohren, Doug Manmiller, Meme DeSantis, Mike Gular, Tim Buckwalter, Don Norris and others.
A large turnout of fans is expected to be on hand to see the opening night racing action which will include qualifying events for the three divisions of competition topped off by action packed feature races. And there is expected to be a large turnout of race cars.
Officials will be unveiling their new handicapping system which has met with approval from the majority of racers.
Gates for fans will open at 5 p.m. with the Low Down & Dirty Internet Radio group hosting a Meet and Greet with drivers and cars from all three divisions. Racing action gets the green at 7 p.m.
Admission for the 53rd season opener is $15 for adults while youngsters 11 and under are admitted FREE. Grandview has stuck with the same admission price as in the past few years.
Coming up on Saturday, April 11th, 7 p.m. is the first special event of the season with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds featured in a 35-lap feature race. BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars will also see action.
Fans are reminded that season passes still remain available. The passes are priced at $350 and give you a reserved seat for all Saturday night racing events from opening through the Freedom 76 Classic set for Saturday, September 12.
