WALL, N.J. ~ Three pre-season “rookie practice sessions” have been set at Wall Stadium Speedway so that new racers can have plenty of time on the third mile high banked paved oval before regular season action begins. The three sessions are set for April 1 from 11 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and on April 8 and April 15 from 9 until 10 a.m. The racing season officially starts on Saturday night, April 22, and continues through the annual running of the Turkey Derby on Thanksgiving weekend.

On April 1 the speedway will also host a tires and tech inspection day from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. so that all competitors can have their cars inspected and can purchase tires for the fast-approaching season. On both April 8 and April 15 tire sales and technical inspections will also be available plus all drivers can participate in on track practice from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The speedway office will be open on all three Saturdays so that competitors can obtain racing licenses and complete needed forms before opening night. The speedway office is also open weekdays so that race teams and fans can get ready for the season early. In addition, the 2017 schedule, rules and registration forms can be downloaded at wallspeedwayracing.com.

Once all pre-season activities are complete Wall Stadium Speedway’s regular season will open on Saturday night, April 22, with all divisions in racing action. The Freehold Ford Modifieds are set for an opening night 40-lapper, the Snap On Sportsmen cars will battle in a 30-lap feature race and the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks, Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks, Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models and the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars will all race in 25-lap main events.

As has been the case since the third mile high banked paved oval opened in 1950, the Freehold Ford Modifieds will be the headline division competing in regular distance 40-lap main events on most Saturday nights. In addition, the Freehold Ford Modifieds are set for a 125-lap race on June 24, Twin 35 lap races on July 8, a 125-lap race on July 29 and a 125-lap event on August 19. Both the October 21 “Spooky Spectacular” and November’s “Turkey Derby” also offer extra distance races for the Freehold Ford Modifieds.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
