Richest Event Gets Richer: Bonuses & Special Awards Adding Up For ‘Blast at the Beach’ Tuesday, September 1 At Georgetown Speedway; Short Track Super Series Modified Competitors Rewarded With High-Dollar Event On First State Soil

GEORGETOWN, DE – Bonuses and special awards continue to “sweeten the pot” for Delaware’s richest dirt-track Modified race of 2015.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1 (rain date: Sept. 2), Georgetown Speedway hosts the second annual ‘Blast at the Beach’ event co-promoted by dirt Modified driver and businessman Eric Kormann and Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports Media LLC. The big-block/small-block Modifieds of the Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Hi-Tek invade the historic half-mile for the STSS Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. South Region presented by Scotty’s Speed & Diesel championship round.
For 35 laps of racing, the ‘Blast at the Beach’ STSS Modified winner will leave with $5,000 plus lap money, bonuses and more. The event pays $1,000 for 10th and, thanks to a slew of marketing partners, green money has been boosted to $500!
But there is much, much more.
All of the night’s STSS Modified heat races will offer $100 cash to the winner thanks to Will Brown’s Truck Repair located in Cambridge, Md. Brown is a longtime supporter of racing in the First State and beyond as a car owner and crew member.
The top-finishing Delaware International Speedway big-block Modified regular in the field will take home $250 cash courtesy of DTM Motorsports, now offering dyno service in Millsboro, Del.
The Halfway Leader in the STSS Modified main event (lap 18) earns a $200 cash bonus courtesy of Danny’s Pizza Pizzazz, with locations in Millville and Franklinville, N.J.
Lap money for the 35-lap main has already topped $900 and continues to climb at a minimum of $20 per lap. Two key circuits include lap nine sponsored by Auger Manufacturing and lap 11 presented by Crunchco Snacks, both worth $100 cash! Lap money will be distributed to the top-seven in the running order during the main.
Vahlco Wheels has signed on to support the event with a multi-faceted effort. Vahlco has contributed $100 cash toward the STSS Modified Hard Charger Award, going to the driver advancing the most positions from their scheduled starting position. The first person during the event to damage a wheel will receive a brand-new, beadlock wheel as a FREE replacement on site. Also, the fifth-place finisher will receive a free, non-beadlock wheel, a standard at all STSS events.
A long list of product certificates will be handed out from the following STSS-supporting companies: Allstar Performance, American Racer/Lias Tire, ATL Fuel Cells, Behrent’s Performance Warehouse, Fast Axle, Lineman Racing, Shiley Fabrication and VP Racing Fuel.
Sponsorship support for the ‘Blast at the Beach’ has been received from Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply of Hurlock, Md., Taylor & Messick of Harrington, Del., Shore Water Refining of Dagsboro, Del., and American Portable Mini-Storage of Millsboro, Del.
The complete STSS Modified purse structure is as follows: 1. $5,000; 2. $3,000; 3. $2,000; 4. $1,500; 5. $1,400; 6. $1,150; 7. $1,125; 8. $1,100; 9. $1,050; 10. $1,000; 11. $750; 12. $650; 13. $625; 14. $600; 15. $550; 16. $525; 17. $515; 18-24. $500; Provisionals: $250.
Following four of five STSS South Region events, David Van Horn Jr. of Harmony, N.J., leads the standings into Georgetown in search of a $7,500 championship. Van Horn won the most recent event at Delaware International Speedway on Aug. 5 and holds an advantage of 23 markers with 325 points.
Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Pa., is second in the standings with 302 points. Completing the top five, respectively, are Rick Laubach of Hellertown, Pa., with 292 points, Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y., at 291 markers and Craig Von Dohren of Oley, Pa., accruing 278 points.
Joining the STSS Modifieds on the Georgetown card are Crate 602 Sportsman in a 25-lap event paying $1,000 to win and $100 to start, Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.
