1-Wall73016B 062WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~August 1, 2016- With rain falling in almost every municipality surrounding Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday evening track officials did their very best to present the scheduled stock car racing card. But after completing qualifying races and one main event the rain settled in and forced the remaining main events to be washed out.

Before the rains fell Robert Sutphin of Brick grabbed his first win of the season in the first of what was scheduled to be two 25-lap main events for the Snap On Sportsman cars. Sutphin fought off former champion Kevin Davison of Howell almost every step of the way including through three restarts forced by cautions for minor incidents before taking the checker flag. Rookie Blake Barney of Jackson was third at the stripe with Howell’s Jimmy Blewett and Brick’s Don Fattarusso wrapping up the top five.

“We have had a terrible year, Sutphin said after the win. “We’ve only finished three races so this win is real special for our team.”

With rain washing out the remainder of the program rain checks will be honored for any remaining regular season program. For programs with an admission price equal to the July 30 card a ticket stub alone will be honored. For events with a higher admission price, like this Saturday’s “Summer Scorcher,” the rain check plus the difference in admission price will earn entrance to the grandstand midway.

; Stock car racing continues this Saturday night (August 6) as the speedway presents the “Summer Scorcher.” On the track the Downs Ford Modifieds will battle in a 125-lap, $5000 to win main event and the Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models and the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars will each compete in a 25-lapper. The O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks will be on the card in two 25-lap main events, one regularly scheduled and the other being made up from the July 30 rainout. Grandstand seating opens at 5:00 p.m., qualifying starts at 5:45 p.m. and feature racing begins at 7:00 p.m.
