Points Battles Rage On at Bowman Gray
Points Battles Rage On at Bowman Gray
(Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC) There was a lot to watch during this weekend’s racing action at Bowman Gray Stadium. The Myers brothers clashed with Danny Bohn. Jason Myers grabbed his fifth win, while Bohn won twice
over the weekend.
But while these storylines were catching everyone’s attention, Tim Brown of Tobaccoville was silently padding his points lead in the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series.
Brown finished third and fifth, slightly better than the second and eighth place finishes from Burt Myers of Walnut Cove. The night’s performance added two precious points to Brown’s lead, increasing it from four to six.
In the Farm Bureau Insurance Sportsman Series, the points ladders were shaken majorly on Saturday. Taylor Branch of Lewisville caught some bad luck, which relegated him to a 16th place finish. Branch fell out of the points lead
down to third. Tommy Neal of Walkertown suffered from a flat tire at the tail end of the race, earning him a 14th place finish. Neal drops from second in the points down to fourth.
Zack Clifton of Walkertown finished second on Saturday to move him up to second in the points. And Michael Adams of Yadkinville is boosted into the points lead after finishing in third.
Derrick Rice of Kernersville entered Saturday tied for the points lead with Steven Berrier of Germanton in the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series. Both Rice and Berrier wrecked on Saturday but were able to fight their way
forward to salvage some decent finishes.
Rice climbed up to fifth, with Berrier making his way up to ninth. Rice secured the points lead all to himself, with Berrier falling down to second on the points ladder. Brian Wall of Winston-Salem finished third to move to only two points
under Berrier.
In the McDowell Heating & Air Stadium Stock Series, Brandon Brendle of Winston-Salem claimed victory on Saturday, strengthening his points lead.
The action rolls on this Saturday night at the Madhouse – it will be Whelen Night with twin 25s for the Modifieds, plus racing for the Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions. And the night will end with the season’s final
109 U-Pull-It Chain Race.
Gates open at 6:00 for practice, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online atwww.bowmangrayracing.com or by calling (336) 723-1819.
