PENN CAN SPEEDWAY POSTPONES “CAN OPENER” TO NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 1ST

Susquehanna, PA…A combination of week-long rain and a forecast calling for wind and record low temperatures has forced Penn Can Speedway management to postpone the “Can Opener”. The 2015 season opener is now rescheduled for next Friday, May 1st.

After two practice sessions that saw perfect track conditions, the anticipation was really building leading up to the “Can Opener”. Now everyone will have to wait one more week to lift the lid on the 2015 racing season.

“In spite of how rough this spring has been, the track was in awesome shape for both of our practice sessions”, said new Promoter Dan Harpell. “We were really excited to get the season started but unfortunately the rain that we had all week, coupled with a forecast that calls for wind chill temperatures dipping to the mid teens on Friday night, will force us to wait another week”, he added.

Drivers were raving about the condition of the track at both practice sessions. The track was smooth as a table top and was tacky enough to pull your shoes off at the end of the night. Drivers were turning lap times at near record pace.

The 2015 “Can Opener” will now take place next Friday, May 1st at 7:30 p.m. The Modifieds will go to battle in a 40 lap feature paying $1,500 to win. They will be joined by the 602 Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks, Four Cylinders, Factory Stocks and Slingshots. For further information look us up on Facebook or log ontowww.penncan.com.
