RAIN FORCES CANCELLATION… BICYCLE GIVE-AWAY NIGHT FRIDAY AT PENN CAN
Susquehanna, PA…Penn Can Speedway was forced to cancel racing Friday because of the heavy rain that fell at the speedway and overnight rain that saturated the entire facility. The great racing action returns to Penn Can Speedway in Susquehanna this Friday June 20th with a special night of racing featuring the annual Little League Night and Bicycle Give-away. All boys and girls in their league uniforms will be admitted free. All children twelve and younger will be eligible for the annual bicycle give-away held at the speedway every year. Under the direction of head flagger, Gary Folk Jr, race teams, fans, and area businesses have donated bicycles again this year. Last year’s give-away topped out at over seventy five bicycles. This year should be even bigger with a reported ninety plus bikes already donated. The entire night of racing will be sponsored by Adams Cable Service of Carbondale, Pennsylvania. They will be on hand with many give-aways for the fans.
On the racing card for this special night will be the modifieds, 602 sportsman, street stocks, four cylinders, factory stocks, and Xcel Modifieds. The action all season has been exciting in all divisions. The speedway is coming off the annual Clash at the Can this past Tuesday that saw an incredible sixty lap modified feature with local favorite and defending track champion Kevin Hartnett and veteran invading star Danny Johnson coming across the finish line in a dead even tie for the win.
On our last Friday racing program Alan Rudalavage used the low line to propel his mount under early leader, Adam MacGeorge then held strong throughout the thirty lap modified feature to claim his first Penn Can Speedway win of the season. Dusty Barton became the first repeat winner in the 602 sportsman while Steve Deinhardt returned to Victory Lane in the street stocks. In the four cylinder division Nick Kennedy won his first career feature win besting a large field of cars. Eric Beach repeated in the factory stocks with Will Eastman winning in the Xcel modifieds.
Gates will open at 5:15 for Little League Night this Friday with racing at 7:30. For more information about Penn Can Speedway call the track office at 570-585-9928 or on the web at www.penncan.com. The speedway is located on Route 171 in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania just a short drive from both the Binghamton and Scranton areas. The speedway is sponsored in part for the 2012 season by great corporate partners including Don’s Automotive Mall, Gary’s U-Pull-It, Pump-N-Pantry Stores, Trackside Products, Pine Line Auto, Hornbeck Chevrolet, NEP Wireless, Adams Cable Service, American Race Tires, and VP Race Fuels.
