Race Of Champions Closing Oswego Season

OSWEGO, NY- October 25, 2016– The 66th annual Race of Champions will conclude the season for the Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series fueled by Sunoco this Saturday at Oswego Speedway.
It will also be the final time for race fans to see asphalt modifieds compete in New York during the current racing season. Patrick Emerling and Chuck Hossfeld have engaged in a battle for the top spot throughout the season and with just 250 laps remaining in the season there only 70 points separating them.
It will also be time to present one of the most-prized possessions in the sport, the Al Gerber Memorial Trophy, which goes to the winner of the Race of Champions 250.
Emerling has never won the Race of Champions, while Hossfeld is looking to etch his name on the trophy for a fourth time.
Hossfeld and Emerling lead a star-studded field into Saturday’s 250-lap grind at Oswego. Matt Hirschman, Austin Kochensash and Andy Jankowiak earned guaranteed starting positions for the event throughout the season. When they pull into the historic Oswego Speedway pit area on Saturday, they will be joined by Ryan Preece, who is currently a regular in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Preece is also a guaranteed starter in the 66th annual Race of Champions after he earned a victory last season in the Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium, one of six events where drivers could earn guaranteed starting positions for the event.
The winner of the Race of Champions 250 will also become a guaranteed starter in the North-South Shootout at Concord (N.C.) Speedway on Nov. 3-5.
The Super Stock All-Star, Small Block Supermodifieds and the Classic Asphalt Modified Series will also take to the track for asphalt racings final party in 2016 at Oswego Speedway.
