MINERSVILLE, PA –April 29, 2016- The inaugural event of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By VP for Open Sportsman is quickly approaching.
Announced during the off-season, the STSS Open Sportsman circuit is comprised of seven events. It all begins at the Big Diamond Speedway ‘Anthracite Assault’ on Tuesday, May 10 (rain date: May 17) as a companion to the Modified combined STSS Halmar International North Region and Velocita South Region program.
STSS Sportsman race 25 laps for a $1,000 winner’s share and $125 to take the green at Big Diamond to kick off the series.
“The feedback this winter from Open Sportsman racers has been strong,” STSS organizer Brett Deyo said. “The division is far from dead; just take a look around at the tracks running them.
“With a manageable schedule and solid purse and point fund, I think we will see some very competitive racing this year with our Sportsman program.”
At the Big Diamond event only, Open Sportsman are permitted to utilize sail panels. Traditional windows will be utilized for all other events.
