NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Returns to Stafford August 7th for Call Before You Dig 150

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will return to Stafford Speedway on August 7th for the Call Before You Dig 150, the third of four NWMT races to be held at Stafford this season. 2-time NWMT Champion Doug Coby is currently tied atop the points standings with 2013 NWMT Champion Ryan Preece with NAPA Spring Sizzler winner Woody Pitkat only 2 points behind.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make stops at New Hampshire and Monadnock before coming back to Stafford on Aug. 7. With the Call Before You Dig 150 just 3 weeks away, here is a look at who has excelled in the first 2 NWMT races held at Stafford this season.
Pitkat leads the way at Stafford in 2015 with a win in the NAPA Spring Sizzler back in April followed up by a second place finish in June in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125. Pitkat has also had the upper hand on the field in qualifying with 2 top-5 starts behind the wheel of the #88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet Chevrolet. Pitkat led 49 laps in the Sizzler but did not lead a lap in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125, despite finishing second.
Doug Coby finished sixth in the NAPA Spring Sizzler with the #2 Dunleavy’s Repair Chevrolet and was relegated to a 13th place finish in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 due to a late race penalty for rough driving. Coby qualified a disappointing 11th for the Sizzler, but he won the pole position for the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 and he led 2 laps in that race.
Ryan Preece is second to only Pitkat in average finish at Stafford with a third place effort in the NAPA Spring Sizzler and he won the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 in June behind the wheel of the #6 T.S. Haulers, Inc. Chevrolet. Preece will head into the Call Before You Dig 150 leading all drivers in laps led at Stafford this year, having spent 188 of 325 laps at the front. Preece also has the best average starting position at Stafford with pole position for the NAPA Spring Sizzler and a second place start in the TSI Harley-Davidson 125.
In addition to Pitkat, Coby, and Preece, there are 6 other drivers who have an average finish inside the top-10 in the first two races of the season at Stafford. Todd Szegedy, driver of the #4 Mystic Missile Dodge has an average finish of 3.0; Rowan Pennink, driver of the #93 Van Wickle NAPA Auto Supply Chevrolet has an average. finish of 7.0; Bobby Santos, III, driver of the #44 Tinio Corp. Chevrolet has an average finish of 8.0; Patrick Emerling, driver of the #07 Buffalo Auto Auction Chevrolet has an average finish of 8.5; Timmy Solomito, driver of the #16 Diversified Metals Ford has an average finish of 9.5, and Keith Rocco, driver of the #22 Canto Paving Chevrolet has an average finish of 10.0.
Tickets for the August 7th Call Before You Dig 150 are on sale now and are priced at $33.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is $35.00 for all ages and all ticket prices include 10% CT Admission Tax.
