HAGERSTOWN, MD: This Sunday, March 8th, was to be the Opening Day Special at Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol, however continuing adverse weather has not provided suitable conditions to proceed.

With snow already on the grounds and the Conococheague Creek behind the speedway froze solid, Mother Nature and Old Man Winter are not letting up as measurable snow is also currently forecast Wednesday into Thursday.

Promoter Ernie Davis has pushed Sunday’s Opening Day Special ahead a week to Sunday the 15th with the same program that begins at 1:00 p.m. (warm-ups at 12:30) and features Late Models competing for $3,000, Late Model Sportsman running for $800 and $350 awaiting the Pure Stock (Home Track Rules) winner. There also will be a Kids Bike Giveaway.

The Saturday, March 14th race has been scratched from the schedule.

Proceeding as scheduled, the run for the championship and first points races take off on March 21st with a standard four division program of Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Hobby Stock that begins at 5:00 p.m. and warmups at 4:30.

Follow the speedway on Twitter and Facebook at Dirt Capitol LLC and also check out Ernie D’s Turn 5 on Facebook with information about events, driver’s interviews and more. The latest news, results, photos, schedule or rule changes can found be on the speedway’s website: www.hagerstownspeedway.com.  Also check the website for any changes in weather conditions that may delay or cancel the program or contact the speedway office at 301-582-0640.
