DSC_a2279LEHIGHTON, PA- July 27, 2016- Give me an inch and I’ll take a mile was the philosophy this past Saturday at Mahoning Valley Speedway. When running white-knuckle at top speed on a 1/4 mile tight track such as Mahoning Valley someone is bound to come out unhappy. You just never know what you are going to see when you see a race here but we can guarantee you will not leave bored.

And, after last week’s highly intense action, both on and off the track, there is an overflow of excitement as to what will play out this week.

The scheduled line-up for this Saturday, July 30 says it’s a regular show of Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks plus the touring Micro Stocks.

But as fans of Mahoning Valley Speedway have come to expect on any given night is the unexpected. Auto racing by its very nature is a competitive sport. Only winning matters. Drivers and owners spend countless hours and oodles of money to be the one standing in Victory Lane and the warriors who compete at Mahoning Valley exemplify that and more.

The action gets underway with gates and regular practice at 4:00 pm. Heats will commence at 6:00 pm. For those who wish to get in on some early paid practice they may do so beginning at 12:30. Pit gates will open at noon.

At intermission Kids Big Wheels will be held.

Adult grandstand admission is $12. There is a $2 discount for students, seniors 65+ and active Military.

DSC_a2058Over the years there has been countless battles on and off the track – think of Bobby and Donnie Allison, Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, AJ Foyt Jr. In the Modifieds you had Richie Evans vs Jerry Cook and Geoff Bodine vs the world. Teddy Christopher has the three tap rule that made him loved and hated for his hard nose racing style.

As for Mahoning Valley, last Saturday night was a classic in each sense of that.

Every short track has its good guy vs bad guy, small team vs big team, low buck team vs big buck team but all that is neutralized at Mahoning. What will this Saturday hold?

And, with the NASCAR caravan of stars hanging out at Pocono Raceway this weekend you just never know who will show up to take in and be part of the Mahoning action.
