New Egypt, NJ (January 4, 2016) – Johnny Cornell, the 2014 Sportsman champion at New Egypt Speedway, will be competing in the South Jersey Overhead Door Northeast Wingless Sprint Car class in 2016.

Cornell is very excited to be competing in the new division at New Egypt Speedway. “I cannot wait to go racing,” said the Neshanic Station, NJ based driver. In 2015, Cornell participated in several wingless Sprint Car events and quickly noticed a major difference from Modified and Sportsman cars. “With the Modified and Sportsman cars, you have to wait on the car and let it set, then rotate thru the corner. The wingless Sprint Car is the only racecar I have ever driven where the harder you push it, the better it handles. You can literally run these cars as hard as physically possible and they only get better,” commented Cornell. The South Jersey Overhead Door Northeast Wingless Sprint Car division has drawn strong interest from the racing community and Cornell believes economics is driving the attention. “Comparing it to the Modifieds and Sportsman, these DSC_0138wingless Sprint Cars are a fraction of the cost. With the Modifieds and Sportsman, there are so many expenses with motors, shocks, and other components. With these wingless Sprint Cars, you have a crate motor that is cheaper than a Modified or Sportsman motor. Plus, there is a rule on shocks to keep the costs down and the components are relatively cheap as opposed to those for Modifieds and Sportsman,” stated Cornell. With over twenty entrants expected to be on hand for the first point event in the South Jersey Overhead Door Northeast Wingless Sprint Car class on Saturday, April 2, Cornell is seeking high expectations for 2016. “I would love to be in victory lane this year and quite possibly, the first ever champion in the division,” said Cornell.

The 2016 season at New Egypt Speedway kicks off on Saturday, March 19 with the March Madness Meltdown. 2016 marketing partnerships are now available. A full range of packages from division naming rights to billboard advertising to race night sponsorship have been designed for any type of budget.
