Jamaica, VA – Due to torrential rains and additional wet weather forecasted for tonight and all day tomorrow officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway officials have canceled racing for Saturday June 27th. It is the second rainout for the month of June and of the season.

 

“This area has been hammered by torrential rains over the last several nights resulting in standing water around the facility and with the forecast calling for more heavy rain tonight and all day tomorrow we felt it best to go ahead and cancel tomorrow’s events”, commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.

 

The speedway will take next Saturday July 4th off and return to racing on Saturday June 11th to host week nine of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action.

 

Competitor gates for Saturday July 11th will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 6:30pm with hot laps and features are schedule for 8pm.

 

Admission price for adults $12, seniors (60+) $10; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $8, students 11 – 17 years old $6 and children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $20.

 

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
