Georgetown Speedway Back In Action Friday, September 21 With September Showdown

GEORGETOWN, DE – After nearly a month of inactivity, action returns to Georgetown Speedway on Friday, September 21.
The ‘September Showdown’ features a full lineup of auto racing on the banked, half-mile oval. The lightning-fast Capitol Renegade United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars make their only 2018 appearance at Georgetown, competing in a 25-lap A-Main.
Entering the Georgetown event, Josh Weller of Mertztown, Pa., leads the URC standings off the strength of two feature wins. Curt Michael of nearby Ocean View, Del., sits second, only one point behind Weller. Currently third through fifth, respectively, are Eddie Strada of Lake Ariel, Pa., Chad Layton of Harrisburg, Pa., and Ryan Quackenbush of Goshen, N.Y.
URC officials are working diligently to bring a strong field south to the First State for this event.
Sunoco big-block/small-block Modifieds race 30 laps for a $3,000 winner’s share and $250 to take the green flag on the heels of a memorable ‘Blast at the Beach’ on Tuesday, August 28.
Also on the program: L&J Sheet Metal Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Little Lincoln Stock Cars, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps get underway at 6:45 p.m., with racing at 7:30 p.m.
Adult admission is $20 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (ages 65-plus) and Students (ages 13-17), $10 for Kids (ages 9-12) and Children 8 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children five and under pay $2.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
