008KIRKWOOD, NY – October 20, 2016-  Five Mile Point Speedway is moving this Sunday’s race program to Saturday, October 29th with a built in rain date for Sunday, October 30th. All rain checks will be honored. The move is being made for multiple reasons with the biggest reason to allow teams to race at the Dutch Hoag National event at Outlaw Speedway this Sunday and not have the conflict between the two tracks. Racing at Five Mile Point Speedway on Saturday, October 29th will begin at 3 p.m.

The Dutch Hoag National at Outlaw Speedway was moved from Saturday of this weekend to Sunday due to heavy predicted rains this Friday and Saturday. Outlaw Speedway owner Tyler Siri phoned Five Mile Point Speedway owner Andrew Harpell requesting a change in the FMP schedule as there was no other make up date for the Outlaw Speedway event. Harpell has made the decision to accommodate the Dutch Hoag National event and not make the race teams have to choose between two good paying race days.

085Harpell commented, “We had a lot of teams that were put in a jam due to the two events both being slated for this Sunday with their change.” “We did look at their schedule when we rescheduled for this Sunday and there was no mention of a Sunday rain date. Had we known that then we would have rescheduled for the 29th originally.” “I really am torn about postponing for another week but this will avoid a direct conflict for a lot of teams that are hoping for a good payday at both race tracks.”

Siri commented, “We have raced a lot at Five Mile Point Speedway with our team and certainly did not want a conflict this Sunday. We just have no other date that we can run this program.” He added, “When I phoned Andrew on Wednesday and made the request I knew it was difficult for him but he has always tried to do what was best for the teams and he didn’t want a conflict for them anymore than we did.”

The new date will now also provide the Tobias Slingshot Teams the opportunity to race as a National Sanctioned event. That would not have been the case this Sunday. For many Four Cylinder, Street Stock, Sportsman, IMCA and Factory Stock teams this will avoid a direct conflict for them this Sunday as well. All rain checks will be honored on Saturday, October 29th at Five Mile Point Speedway and there is now a built in rain date for the next day of Sunday, October 30th if needed.

089Harpell added, “We wanted to announce this as early as possible so our fans and teams could plan accordingly.” He added, “Another big consideration in the decision was the weather forecast for the next several days. With the heavy rain that is forecast for Friday and Saturday our parking lots are likely to be oversaturated making conditions a mess for the fans and teams.” “If this conflict effected one or two teams we wouldn’t be making the change, it literally was going to affect dozens of teams this Sunday and that wouldn’t be fair to them.”

Anyone that signed in to the pit area on Saturday, October 8th will have their name on a list for free admission on October 29th at the pit window. This way if someone lost their wrist band they can still receive their free admission. Harpell commented, “We have taken every name off the pit sign in sheets and made a list to make the sign in process easier for everyone next Saturday.” If you have lost your wristband from October 8th please bring photo i.d. to redeem your pit pass.

The Saturday, October 29th race divisions and schedule will remain exactly the same as what was set for this Sunday. The held over curfew feature events from Friday, October 7th for Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders will start off the racing program on Saturday, October 29th. Then the entire new program will begin. Heat race draws and the “Redemption Draws” will remain as previously announced. New teams are welcome to compete and draw for a front row starting position through the “Redemption Draw”.

Below is a complete list of the order of events for Saturday, October 29th at Five Mile Point Speedway. The racing program for Saturday, November 5th remains completely intact as originally scheduled.
