Newberrytown, PA (March 31, 2015) – The Susquehanna Speedway Park will hold its final Test & Tune before its season opener on Wednesday, April 1. The gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with practice sessions rotating for each class from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The cost is $14.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($34.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open and free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night.
The first Test & Tune for the “Outback Track” will be Friday Night, April 10.
During the season, SSP will also host Wednesday Night Test & Tune Sessions on April 8; April 22; May 6; May 20; June 3; June 10; June 24; July 22; August 5; August 19; September 2; September 16; September 30; October 14; October 21 and October 28. All Wednesday night practices will run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Entering the 12th year of ownership under Todd and Rhonda Fisher, the 2015 season opener at the Susquehanna Speedway Park will be on Saturday, April 4, with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Legends Cars and the first of three appearances by the Super Sportsman. This will be the 61st year of operation for the Susquehanna Speedway Park (opened May, 1954). All point championships for each class starts on April 5. At the end of the season, SSP will crown sixteen-(16) track champions in their respective classes (Late Models; Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors, Mini Vans, PA Sprint Series, Figure 8 Racing, Sportsman Modifieds, PENNMAR Vintage Cars, Classic Cars, All American Outlaws, Legends Cars, 410 Sprint Cars, 358 Sprint Cars, 360/358 Sprint Cars and Super Sportsman). Track championships are based on classes with a minimum of three races per season.
The SSP track championship point season schedule features 16 point races for the Late Models and the Street Stocks as well as 15 point races for the Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors and Mini Vans not including their respective season ending special events. The PA Sprint Series will compete at the York County oval 12 times.
The 410 Sprint Cars will make eight appearances at York County’s stock car oval in Newberrytown. The Super 410 Sprint Cars and 358 Sprint Cars are double billed for four separate visits on Sunday, April 12 for the 6th annual Sprint Car Spring Classic; Sunday, June 14 for the 8th annual Sprint Car Summer Classic; Sunday, august 23 and Saturday, November 14 for the popular 6th annual Final Showdown paying $10,000 to the 410 Sprint Car winner bringing a close to SSP’s 61st year in existence. The 410 Sprints will also join the URC 360/358 Sprint Car Challenge Races for four more races on Sunday, May 3; Sunday, July 19; Sunday, September 20 and Sunday, October 18.
Two special events for the ACMS 600cc Micro Sprints and Sidewinder Sprints include events on Thursday, July 2 for the Eichelberger’s U-Pull-It Super Show X and the Candy Bowl XI presented by J&K Salvage on Saturday, October 31.
The final leg of the USAC Eastern Storm championship featuring the National USAC Non-Wing Sprint Cars will be on Sunday, June 7. The USAC Midgets Eastern Storm will make its first visit on Thursday, August 20.
At the season opener on Saturday, April 5, the pit gates will open at 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Warm-ups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events. General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Season Opener special event on Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $15.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $13.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
